Brackets and bids, ooh baby, that’s right, March Madness is upon us. As the 2019 NCAA tournament details were released Monday, March 18, Uber Eats unveiled its own high-stakes (like, actual steaks) betting odds.
Depending on the outcomes of each of six rounds, Uber Eats will unlock coupon codes and offers, most of which will automatically load on the app so no need to scour the interwebs for promo codes. Think $20 credits, $0 delivery fees, and point-based discounts that will make grabbing grub from your couch even more tempting than it already is.
Not a major college basketball fan? The Uber Eats March Madness deals will work even if the only NCAA word you know is “Zion.” If you don’t know that, you don’t deserve free delivery. Might as well make your own March Madness food.
Here is how the deals break down.
Round 1: For a Cinderella Upset
Keep your chicken fingers crossed for a Cinderella Upset in Round 1. If the No. 16 seed beats the No. 1 seed, Uber Eats will give U.S. eaters a free meal (which in Uber Eats language means $20 off your next order). If you don’t understand how first-round matchups are determined, know that 64 teams are split into four regions of 16 teams each. Those teams are ranked (No. 1 through No. 16) and the top team in each region is pit against the bottom one. Don’t argue with us about the rules, just know we have four shots to get free burritos. Sorry, North Carolina, we hope Iowa wipes the floor with you.
Round 2: For Crushed Fans
Hometown fans crushed after losing a game by more than 20 points or having their team fall asleep on the court are offered condolence via a free $5 credit. This kindhearted “pick-me-up” from Uber Eats can be used on sad pancakes or crying ramen between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. the day after the loss. Nothing like food to wash down defeat.
Round 3: For 16 Teams Left
Once only 16 teams are left, Uber Eats is cutting 16 percent off all orders (up to $10) until the final two teams take the court. This deal is good in both the U.S. and Canada.
Round 4: For a Game-Winning Buzzer-Beater
Hardcore March Madness bros now have a reason to wake up before 10:30 a.m.: free breakfast delivery. By wake up, we mean put an order into your phone with instructions to bring your food into the bedroom and wake you up gently. In order to snag this $0 delivery deal, you have to be locally based where there was a game the night before with a game-winning buzzer-beater (Dave Portnoy’s favorite as of late.). No, a 3 a.m. order doesn’t count. The deal starts at 7 a.m.
Round 5: For the Final 4
By now you’ll be ingrained in March Madness water cooler talk and (hopefully) discounts aplenty, but Round 5’s promo is for local fans only. Grab $0 delivery the next day after the Final 4 have been chosen. (Even if you’re on the loser’s turf.)
Round 6: For Randy
So there’s an Uber Ears courier named Randy, and he’s predicting the winning team of the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Champion will crush by 21 points. For every point that Randy is off, Uber Eats will give eaters a percentage point off their order. So if the champions win by 6 points, you’ll get a 15 percent discount.
Randy, all I have to say to you is I hope you fail as nobody has ever failed before.
