San Diego-based Stone Brewing has seen considerable growth over the last few years. Its recent successes include the announcement of an East Coast location in Richmond, Virginia, the launch of a successful brewpub in Berlin, Germany, and overcoming the logistical hurdles of its “Enjoy By” series, allowing them to supply extremely fresh beer throughout Stone’s large distribution area.

There are no signs of Stone slowing down in 2018. To prove its commitment to craft beer fans, the brewery has released a 2018 release calendar showcasing old favorites and brand-new beer offerings.

The year-round beer list includes the return of Stone IPA, Delicious IPA, Tangerine Express IPA, Ripper San Diego Pale Ale, Go To IPA, and Ruination Double IPA. In May, Ruination Double IPA will change from recipe version 2.0 to an all new version 3.0. Another new brew, Scorpion Bowl IPA, will join the year-rounders’ club in February.

Stone’s “Hop Worship” series will debut in 2018 in canned six packs as well as draft with the new beers Exalted, Righteous, and Sanctimonious running February to December. Exalted is the first to hit shelves and features Loral and Citra hops.

New 22-ounce bottle releases include the Double IPAs Loral &Dr. Rudi’s Inevitable Adventure (February), I’m Peach (May), and 22nd Anniversary (August). Also debuting in large format bottles is Totalitarian Imperial Russian Stout. Stone W00tstout and Xocoveza Mocha Stout will return from last year.

The “Enjoy By” series of fresh IPAs is back for 2018 and will mark the holidays with dated-titles recognizing April 20 (4/20), the Fourth of July, Halloween, and Christmas.

Stone’s 2018 beer release calendar is certainly hop heavy, steering hard toward India Pale Ales, but that’s just Stone playing into its reputation and expertise. However, with so many new recipes for the new year, the brewery is intent on introducing change and growth, trusting its army of faithful fans to go along for the ride.

Kentucky whiskey brand Angel's Envy is reliant, like other whiskey producers, on barrels made from woods like white oak for aging its spirits and finishing off their flavors. And the brand is celebrating that relationship with wood by partnering with a tree-planting organization.

As part of its Toast the Trees initiative, Angel's Envy is working with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees throughout Kentucky and beyond. In the past 10 years since the intuitive began in 2014, the brand says it has planted 311,000 White Oak trees which are projects to avoid 17.5 million gallons of water runoff, sequester 135,000 metric tons of CO2, and remove 428 tons of air pollutants.

Four cozy autumnal whiskey cocktails for the changing season
Combine whiskey with Champagne, apple juice, or even coffee liqueur
george dickel fall cocktails roosevelt

With Labor Day in the rear view mirror, fall season is officially upon us. And that means crunchy leaves, pumpkin spice everything, and cozy autumnal drinks. The whiskey brand George Dickel, one of our favorite Tennessee whiskey brands, is getting into the spirit of the season with four cocktail recipes that embrace the tastes of fall.

Naturally there's an apple drink in there, with the Roosevelt combining bourbon and spiced apple juice. There's also a twist on the classic Champagne cocktail which uses whiskey in place of the brandy, a simple rye daiquiri, and an intriguing combination of bourbon, coffee liqueur, and fruity additions which would be a delightful way to toast a Sunday brunch.
