Deadpool’s variant in new ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ trailer is on all fours

The entire summer movie season feels like it has been building toward a single event. Deadpool & Wolverine is headed to theaters on July 26, and promises to be a hilarious Deadpool movie and also a potential game-changer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has now acquired 20th Century Fox’s catalog of characters.

The promotion for the movie is ramping up in the days leading up to the event, and a new trailer gives us another look at what the movie has up its sleeve. The promotional materials have leaned heavily into teasing Deadpool’s variants, as Deadpool and Wolverine are expected to spend some time traveling the multiverse in the new film. While there’s a female variant we likely won’t get to see until the movie itself, this latest trailer has revealed that one of Deadpool’s variants will be a little doggy that he carries around. The new trailer also features a sneak peak at Cowboy Deadpool, although once again we don’t get to see who will be playing him.

As you might expect, the trailer is also filled with various jokes and puns from the movie, some of which you may have heard before, and others that are new to this trailer. The folks at Disney are clearly in full-court press mode for this film, and the current tracking suggests the movie could open between $160 and $165 million. Of course, how much the movie actually makes will depend in part on reviews and word of mouth, but there’s certainly plenty of excitement about the return of both Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth, and Hugh Jackman’s Logan.

Every Christopher Nolan movie is eagerly anticipated and with good reason. There are few directors who manage to live up to the hype surrounding their projects with as much consistency as he does.
Following the news that his next movie would hit theaters in July of 2026, and revelations about who will be in the cast, we now know more details about what the movie will be about. The movie will be an adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey, and according to an X post from Universal Studios, it “is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology…”
We already know a great deal about the cast for this new project, which includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron are all set to star in the film, which is expected to enter production in the first half of 2025.
The movie will be Nolan’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer and definitely feels like a swing back toward blockbuster mode. While every Nolan project is slated for potential awards consideration, some of his movies have resonated more with awards voters than others. An adaptation of The Odyssey could feel high-brow, but it could also feel like a rollicking adventure film.
Of course, even though we know that Nolan is adapting The Odyssey, that doesn’t necessarily mean we totally understand what shape the movie will take. The Odyssey is one of the most foundational works of fiction in the world, but it makes sense that one of this era’s totemic filmmakers would find something intriguing there.
The story has been adapted before in 1911 and 1954, and tangentially in the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou?

With a new year comes the opportunity to run through the calendar and see which personal favorite is finally returning from hiatus.

The returning TV shows of 2025 include the second season of genre-specific series such as The Last of Us and Andor. Other popular shows that came out in 2024 and will return in 2025 are Hacks and The Bear. Perhaps the biggest returning program, though, is Netflix's Stranger Things, which hasn't seen new episodes since the summer of 2022. These are the best returning TV shows of 2025.
