Scotch brand Talisker has a new release of its 30 year old single malt coming out, as part of a limited edition release. Based on the Isle of Skye, the brand has released a number of aged and rare whiskys, and the latest edition of its 30 year old is the rarest so far, with just 2,610 bottles available.
With and abv of 49.8% and the flavors of three decades spent aging, it offers a gentle peppery kick and hints of sea smoke, according to the brand.
“This new release of Talisker 30 Years Old holds all the classic characteristics of Talisker, yet elevated to new heights,” said Ewan Gunn, senior ambassador for Diageo’s single malt scotch. “Soaring with sweet smoke with pointy notes of pepper, this latest release is an elegant and complex expression of Talisker. The 30 Years Old is a consistently exceptional release.”
In comments shared with Whisky Magazine, Matt Macpherson, owner of The Malt Room in Inverness, Scotland, offered his impressions of the new release: “I love all types of whisky, but for me, the Talisker 30-year-old is the definition of balance. It’s like drinking the best smoked butter of your life with hints of brine that transport you to the shores of the west coast.”
For such a rare bottle and one which has been aged for so long, you can expect the this won’t be a cheap option but rather will be something of interest to specialists and collectors. With a retail price of £1,300, the Talisker 30 Years Old 2024 edition will be available online or at selected retailers as part of a worldwide release.
