How to choose a watch on Prime Day
The three steps to picking a watch on Prime Day are as follows: Pick your price and size, find your preferred look, and then look again.
Choosing a price for your Prime Day watch is different than at usual times. The highest end watches aren’t going to be going on sale in droves the way others do. They simply don’t need to. But mid-tier and low-end watches have the chance to really fall in price around this time. Finally, remember you really don’t need to spend $1,000 or multiples of that amount to get a great watch. Something inexpensive to give you the time without interacting with your phone and start doom-scrolling is enough.
Next, browse the watches in that price range. Just look and take in quick subconscious feelings. Maybe you like metallic watches or maybe you prefer bio-sourced ceramics. Do you gravitate towards a stately black or intensely yellow watches? Is the design simple, like a clock, or weird and abstract? Let your gut do the talking.
Finally, once you’ve zeroed in on some discounted Prime Day watches, go back and take in the details. Are they smooth? Do they have transparent parts? Double-check to see if the size is right for your wrist, and check for a date window and find out what other additional dials (aka “complications”) do.
How we chose these Prime Day watch deals
In many ways, creating a reasonably-sized guide to Prime Day watch deals is a nightmare. The space is large and you’ll likely ignore somebody’s tastes. Watches can be practical, casual, luxurious, or silly curiosities and everybody has their own take.
Here, we focused on affordable offerings from well-received brands. We found watches of various colors and styles, with classic dials and unique offerings considered equally.
And, of course, we found watches with good discounts and price points compared to others of their style, brand, and make. Whenever two watches filled the same niche, we let price and discount be the guide, as deals writers should.
