Will Netflix’s ‘The Diplomat’ be back for a third sesaon?

The show was one of Netflix's biggest hits after its first season debuted.

The second season of The Diplomat is about to hit Netflix on Oct. 31, but Netflix already has some news about a potential third season. The political thriller was a hit the second it debuted on Netflix, and the streaming service seems to like what it’s bringing them because they just announced that it will be returning for a third season.

No plot details have been released about the upcoming third season, which makes sense since we don’t even know exactly what happens in season 2 just yet.

Following the news that the show would be continuing into season 3, series creator Debora Cahn shared her reaction: “After an amazing summer shooting in the U.K., we brought London home to NY. Best of both worlds — filming in Brooklyn. We love doing this. We’re so excited to get to keep going.”

The series stars Keri Russell as a career diplomat who finds herself thrust into the spotlight after she’s considered to be a potential replacement for the current vice president. As she manages her ambassadorship in the U.K., she’s also deciding whether she wants to stay married to a fellow diplomat who has had a more high-profile career to date.

Season 2 of The Diplomat left things in a state of upheaval following a cliffhanger car-bombing, and the details of that car-bombing have yet to be fully resolved. However season 2 plays out, fans of the series can rest assured that any cliffhangers at the end of that season will be addressed in season 3, whenever we get that.

Between the large variety of streaming options available to TV fans and the long wait times between new seasons, you'd be forgiven for forgetting some of the best programming on air today. Hopefully, when looking for shows that have slipped between the cracks, you take a look at Showtime's Yellowjackets. The show is named after the girls' high school soccer team that the plot revolves around. The young women of the Yellowjackets are talented, ambitious, but flawed teenagers with hopes and dreams for the future. When their plane crashes in the woods during a cross-country flight to a soccer game, the obscene circumstances force many of the girls to do things they never would have imagined. In an ingenious bit of storytelling and character development, the show also bounces 25 years into the present timeline (the crash happened in 1996) to show the survivors of the crash in their early 40s in 2021. If you read Lord of the Flies at some point in school as a kid or got hooked on Lost during its 2000s heyday, you'll immediately see some parallels and shared DNA between Yellowjackets and those stories.

Could the original ‘Suits’ get a spin-off movie?

When it hit Netflix a few years back, many were surprised to discover that Suits had become something of a phenomenon on the streamer. Now, as we prepare for Suits: LA, a spin-off series set in in Los Angeles, creator Aaron Korsh is also making it clear that the original gang could eventually get back together.

"I was very satisfied with the way Suits ended, and at some point we might do a Suits movie and that could be fun," Korsh said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly for Suits: LA."It's more in the hypothetical or theoretical stages, so I wouldn't have many answers for you [now]. But it's not an insane notion for us to someday do that."
