Throughout November, Delta Air Lines will match member-donated miles via the SkyWish program, helping support veterans, service members, and their families. Recipients include Luke’s Wings’ No Service Member Spends the Holidays Alone campaign and the Fisher House Foundation’s Hero Miles program. This marks the tenth year of Delta’s support through SkyWish to the two organizations.

Luke’s Wings and the Fisher House Foundation’s Hero Miles program utilize donated miles, providing air travel to injured, ill, or wounded veterans and service members, and their families, while they receive treatment and recover. November 11 was Veterans Day and November is National Veterans and Military Families Month.

Luke’s Wings began in 2008 and has since offered free airfare to ill, wounded, and injured service members, veterans, and their loved ones during rehabilitation and recovery. The organization has provided over 17,000 flights over the years and plans to offer 2,000 in 2024.

The Fisher House Foundation offers “a home away from home” for families of those receiving medical care at major military and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers. 98 Fisher Houses throughout the U.S. and Europe provide no-cost accommodations.

Through this partnership, we are able to aid in the healing process by connecting injured veterans and service members with their loved ones at the time they need it most.”

Delta Air Lines earned five accolades in Forbes Travel Guide’s new Luxury Air Travel Awards. Among the wins was the “Best U.S. Airline” due to the carrier’s “strong reputation for its consistency, loyalty program and customer service.” The awards came after detailed research by Forbes Travel Guide, including survey results from 5,000 well-traveled people.

Starting in December and continuing into March, Delta Air Lines will offer increased service to Nigeria. The nonstop route will travel between New York-JFK and Lagos, Nigeria, complementing the airline’s other Nigeria flight from Atlanta. The Lagos route will be aboard an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, emphasizing long-haul comfort.

Delta added the New York to Lagos flight to meet the needs of holiday travelers. Service begins on December 2, 2024, and continues through March 28, 2025. The flight will embark daily in December, January, and February, adding on to the carrier’s daily trips to Atlanta. With the route, Delta improves travel options for Nigerians living in metropolitan areas in Maryland, Virginia, Chicago, Washington, and New York.

On Monday, Delta Air Lines began flying direct between Tampa and Amsterdam, offering trips to Florida’s renowned beaches and the Netherlands’ historic culture. Delta announced the flight in May as a winter seasonal route, but over the weekend, extended it through May 2025. The trip takes place aboard the Airbus A330-300, with modern amenities and multiple cabin options.

The new flight offers convenience and connectivity, with manageable departure times and easy connections. Inbound flights arrive at Tampa International Airport (TPA) in the afternoon and depart for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) three hours later. After landing at AMS, travelers can branch out to more than 100 cities in Europe, Africa, India, and the Middle East via KLM’s hub at AMS.
