Top 10 U.S. ski towns for 2024: study reveals the most searched winter destinations

Colorado towns took 7 out of the 10 spots.

With ski season fast approaching, snow enthusiasts are already mapping out their winter getaways. A new study from buycycle has analyzed Google search data to identify the top 10 most searched U.S. ski towns for 2024, offering a look into the most popular getaways for adventurers. 

Unsurprisingly, Colorado dominates the list, claiming seven of the ten top spots. Leading the charge is Copper Mountain, which racked up an impressive 223,200 monthly searches. Celebrated for its naturally divided terrain, Copper Mountain is great for skiers of all levels. Additionally, its Woodward action sports training facility and status as a training ground for the U.S. Ski Team makes it a standout destination.

Coming in second is Winter Park, Colorado, with 143,100 searches. Known for its expansive Seven Territories and the scenic Winter Park Express rail from Denver, this town is one of the best spots for a winter adventure.

Breaking Colorado’s streak, Snowbird, Utah, takes third place with 136,900 searches. Famous for its steep, challenging slopes, Snowbird is a favorite among seasoned skiers looking for a challenge.

Other non-Colorado spots include Crystal Mountain, Washington, and Aspen Mountain, Colorado. Favorites like Breckenridge and Vail also made the list.

This week, Finland’s national airline, Finnair, announced it’s largest-ever U.S.-bound schedule for the summer of 2025. Also included are more routes to Asia, matching levels last seen in 2019. The flights embark from the carrier’s Helsinki hub. U.S. destinations include Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas and Seattle, while Asian offerings include Osaka and Nagoya, Japan and Shanghai, China.

Beginning March 30, 2025, Finnair will fly from Helsinki to L.A. five days per week, up from last summer’s three. The airline will offer daily flights from Finland to Chicago, an increase over the previous five per week. Seattle-bound passengers can pick from two additional flights next summer, and Dallas-bound travelers can choose from up to 11 routes per week (twice daily on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday).
