When it comes to buying someone you know one of the best cigar gifts, the experience is a lot like tech, believe it or not. Cigars are part of a huge industry and there are so many different kinds, you really have to know your stuff to recommend anything. Not to mention, there are a lot of ways it can go wrong, especially if you want your recipient to enjoy your gift. In case you didn't catch it yet, I recommended against buying a box of cigars as a gift this year. Can you do it? Absolutely. But if you buy someone a box of ten to twenty cigars and they don't like the brand, the label, or just the blend, that's a lot that could go to waste. You never want to miss your mark with a gift, at least I sure don't.
Instead, it makes more sense to go with something varied, like a bundle, sampler pack, or any number of accessories. To make the selection process a lot simpler I've put together a list of the best cigar gifts that any cigar-lover would be happy to receive. Even if you don't choose something from this list directly, you'll have a much better idea of what goes into a great cigar gift. That gives you enough information to choose your own.
Before we dive in, I'd also like to recommend either talking to your recipient or someone that knows them well. Ask what kind of cigars they like, and get a feel for what brands and labels they prefer. That will also give you a better idea of what kind of cigars to gift, if that's the route you choose. And don't forget to keep an eye on those great cigar deals while you're at it.
Let's get into it.
Update: This guide is still being updated, so please check back for more gift ideas.
Get some decent cigars for the one you love.
Best Cigar Prices Top Rated 90+ 10-Cigar Sampler
Who It's for: Cigar enthusiasts who want to indulge in some of the best cigars for the holidays.
With this top-rated bundle from Best Cigar Prices you not only get the ten cigars, but also a free $20 gift certificate and free shipping. With the bundle only being $25, you're basically getting it for $5. That gift card would also allow your recipient to pick out their own cigars. Frankly, this is one of the craziest deals I've seen before the holidays, so don't skip over this one folks.
In the bundle: Oliva Serie G, Montecristo Platinum, Rocky Patel Sun Grown, Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve, Alec Bradley Project 40, and a double blade 80 ring-gauge cutter.
An elegant small humidor that's a real stunner.
Tesonway Cigar Humidor Lux Cabinet
Who It's for: Those who need more space to store cigars or want something more elegant to do so.
Who says a humidor has to be a boring wood box? This luxurious humidor certainly changes that, and the best part is that it's relatively small and manageable. It's big enough to hold about 100 to 150 cigars across three tiers of storage. It also incorporates a built-in lighting system, built-in storage organization, like shelving, and more. The liner is made of real cedar wood which does an excellent job at holding and promoting moisture — to keep the humidity of your cigars at the right levels.
All in all, it's a fantastic gift for anyone that doesn't yet have a place to store their cigars, or those who need a bigger humidor. Additional features include an accessory drawer to store your cutters and lighters, a humidity control system with a hygrometer, and shock absorbing hinges.
Sometimes, you just have to put the cigar down.
Personalized Cigar Rest from Etsy
Who It's for: Everyone who smokes.
This is another gift you'll need to sift through to find a personalized design. I recommend the , pictured above, or the . Whatever you choose, you'll be gifting the cigar lover you know an excellent impromptu place to stow their cigar between puffs. Sometimes you just need to put it down.
Here's what I wouldn't get, however. I would not get one of those whiskey glasses with a cigar holder built-into the glass. They don't work very well and they're pretty much a gimmick. Everything else is a great choice, though, from the ash trays to the metal holders.
Highly-rated monthly deliveries of some of the best cigars.
JR Cigars Cigar of the Month Club
Who It's for: Those willing to try something new and sink their teeth into new blends every month.
While there are a lot of subscription boxes out there, I'm partial to the cigar-focused ones — that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. JR Cigar's new Cigar of the Month club is at the top of the list. Every month, the team works directly with cigar manufacturers to find popular, premium options. They come hand packed and lovingly supported in a beautiful, custom made shipping box. In other words, top notch presentation all around.
With a subscription you get the gift box, obviously, five premium cigars, and you also get access to members-only exclusive deals through JR Cigars. That last bit is pretty spectacular, but won't seem that way until you start poking around JR's site. There are quite a few excellent offers floating around at any given time.
20 delicious Aganorsa cigars to kick it for the holidays.
Aganorsa Megatron 20-Cigar Sampler
Who It's for: Anyone because it's Aganorsa. Enough said.
Y'all know I love Aganorsa. If you don't, you need to read some of my other cigar coverage. Because of that, I'm going back on my word for this pick. I recommended NOT getting a cigar box. This deal essentially gets you 20 cigars so almost a full box. But it's a variety pack and every cigar in here is a banger. It includes five each of the JFR Lunatic Habano Short Titan, Aganorsa Rare Leaf Reserve Toro, Guardian of the Farm Apollo Seleccion de Warped, and Aganorsa Leaf La Validacion Habano Toro. And you get all 20 for $99 which works out to about $5 per stick.
This is the bundle I'll break my own rules for, because it's a good one.
So you can cut your stogies in style.
Cigar Oasis Premium Tabletop Cigar Cutter
Who It's for: Anyone that needs a static cutter for their cigar space.
I actually bought this for my brother-in-law last Christmas and he loves it. Heck, I love it too, and use it every time I go over to visit — which is a lot. It's a tabletop-style cigar cutter with several different "cut" options. There are individual guillotine cutting points for 52 and 60 ring gauges, a V-cut, and a 'Cuban Cut' section. Basically, to use it, you place the cigar head in the cutter, pull the handle, and voila.
All the shavings and cut bits of the cigar, the trash in other words, goes down inside a chamber. When it's full you can easily empty it out. The screw-top design also makes it super easy to clean out the cutting areas when they get gunked up. Trust me on this, the build quality on this thing is phenomenal.
Keep those cigars perfectly moist.
Boveda Humidity Packs
Who It's for: All cigar lovers who want to store their collection.
If you know nothing about cigars, the one thing you should remember is that they need to be stored properly, with the correct humidity. One of the easiest ways to make that happen is to toss them into an airtight container with the appropriate Boveda humidity pack. They come in different increments, so you'll need to ask your cigar lover what humidity they prefer. A lot of enthusiasts prefer anywhere from 62% RH (Relative Humidity) up to 70% RH. Personally, I say the real sweet spot is between 62% RH and 65% RH.
Regardless, you can gift your cigar-enthusiast any number of Boveda products. They offer humidity packs, glass containers, wood instruments, and much more. Basically, they carry a plethora of cigar accessories, if you decide you don't want to deal with the humidity nonsense. Either way, you can't go wrong with a Boveda gift. Just giving them a multi-count bundle of Boveda humidity packs will set them up for a long time, months to years.
Not everything has to smell like smoke.
RabbitAir MinusA2 Ultra Quiet HEP Air Purifier
Who It's for: Anyone with a smoke room or indoor smoking lounge.
I don't like to smoke indoors, for obvious reasons. However, it's totally possible to build yourself an indoor lounge, within an office or extra room, sometimes even a garage. The trick is to seal off any air returns, air seal the doors and seams, and get yourself a true filtration system like the RabbitAir MinusA2. We haven't had the chance to review one yet, but Cigar Aficionado sure did and they loved it.
When the weather is too cold and you want to smoke inside, having one of these is always a plus. They are expensive, so I would recommend only getting one for someone you're real close to. But it's your money, who am I to tell you what to do with it? Maybe it could even be a gift to yourself?
For when you need a bigger selection of giftables.
Famous Smoke Shop Gift Sets
Who It's for: Anyone that needs a quick, yet high-quality gift for a cigar fan.
Less of a singular item or gift and more of a category, Famous Smoke Shop has some excellent cigar giftables that you can browse. From digital gift cards to featured variety samplers, like the , or the , there are a ton of options. Look, I know that doesn't really help you if you don't know what to look for, but that's precisely why I'm sharing it.
This gift idea is perfect for someone that knows what they like. If that doesn't describe you, don't fret. You can easily ask the recipient or someone they know what they like to smoke, or what they need. Because there aren't just cigar bundles here. There are also accessories like cutters and lighters, and more.
The ultimate on-the-go cigar protection.
AWOTE Travel Cigar Humidor and Case
Who It's for: Cigar lovers that take their smokes to go.
Taking your cigars with you on a trip, even just a quick one requires a couple of things. First, you need to make sure those cigars stay humidified. Second, you need to make sure they stay protected, not just from the elements but bumps and scrapes too. So, you don't want to just throw them in your pocket. You also need a proper space to carry your necessities like a cutter and lighter. This AWOTE hard shell travel humidor solves all of those issues. It seals airtight, and has a built-in humidification system. You only need to fill the reservoir with distilled water.
It also has a cedar wood tray, built-in hygrometer, and has a secure lock. It even comes with a matching multi-functional torch cigar lighter. The windproof lighter has a built-in V-cutter for on-the-fly cigar cuts. Basically, it's everything you need to smoke some good stogies, and it holds about seven to nine cigars, depending on the vitolas.
If you don't like this case, in particular, there are .
Another hard case option.
Cigar Caddy
Who It's for: Also cigar lovers that take their smokes to go.
This is the more traditional Herf and cigar case design. It's tough, waterproof up to 10 feet or so, and comes with foam inserts. The foam keeps your cigars safe so they're not bouncing around inside. There's enough room to store up to 10 cigars and a little extra for a cutter and maybe a small lighter.
If you need bigger cases, those are available too:
- -- $29, was $35
- -- $31, was $40
- -- $80, was $105
Deck the halls of your personal cigar lounge.
Soulglass Personalized Cigar Bar LED Sign
Who It's for: Cigar dudes with a personal smoking area.
Maybe they don't smoke indoors or have a dedicated lounge, but they almost certainly have an area where they do smoke, even outdoors? This customizable light is perfect for that area. Just make sure when you submit the personalized message, whether it's a name or something else, that you have everything typed out correctly. The seller will print the message and content as-is.
That being said, it's an excellent quick gift that shows plenty of thought behind it, especially if you personalize with your recipient's name. It comes with a free dimmer and remote, and if you want to, you can even swap the design from cigar bar to match a man cave, Tiki bar, and beyond.
Everything you (or they) ever wanted to know about cigars.
The Cigar Companion: Third Edition: The Connoisseur's Guide
Who It's for: Anyone with even a passing interest in cigars, even if they don't smoke.
I'm not usually one to recommend books on cigars, because a lot of times, the info just isn't that great. But I do have this book and I can confirm it is an excellent read. Topics include the origin of cigars, fan favorite brands (though there are some missing), storage techniques and reputable merchants. Some of that is unnecessary, it's really the cigar-related content that aficionados will love. Learning where cigars come from, how the natives created their tobacco and the history of the industry, it's all rather fascinating.
This makes a great gift for anyone interested in cigars or tobacco. You don't have to smoke to enjoy it, either. it is a hardcover, physical copy, by the way.
To do some old-school blogging on paper.
Moleskine Cahier Journal (80-Pages)
Who It's for: True cigar snobs who want to document their experiences.
If you look on Amazon you'll find , branded appropriately and with notebooks designed for jotting down your experiences. Some of them are cool, with leather-bound covers and unique designs. Sure, you could shop those, but I have a better idea. The Moleskine Cahir Journal is an 80-page soft cover journal that comes in a variety of colors and styles. It's fairly non-descript but it makes for the perfect cigar journal.
The paper inside is thick, lined like a standard notebook (I know the picture above shows unlined), but also acid-free. It works with virtually any type of ink. The blank slate, if you will, allows your cigar enthusiast to write in whatever they want. Maybe they don't want to talk about the country the cigar is from? Maybe they don't want to include the tobacco types? Perhaps they want to glue in the label or something else? This journal gives them plenty of room to do that, but more importantly do their own thing. Plus, they look great even if they aren't ornate and leather-bound.
