All you nerds out there counting down the days until the official release of Google Glass – take a break from your Dungeons & Dragons match and peep game on some headgear that doesn’t make you look like a dweeb.
Introducing the Skully P1: a fully-functional motorcycle helmet that just so happens to have some straight-up Terminator tech hard wired into it.
Inside its hardy tri-composite fiberglass shell, the P1 is outfitted with an integrated heads-up display that can project navigational information right up in your visor. No more planning your route or pulling over to get directions – you can just pop on your helmet, fire up your bike, and ride to your destination. Skully will give you turn-by-turn directions while you’re en route.
It’s also outfitted with a 180-degree rear-view camera that quite literally watches your back while you ride. It captures what’s going on behind you and beams it to the HUD in your visor, effectively eliminating all your blind spots. It’s literally like having eyes in the back of your head.
And that’s not all. Thanks to its built-in Bluetooth transceiver and integrated voice controls, Skully can interface with your smartphone as well. Just pair your device with the helmet and you’ll be able to control your music, send texts, make calls, and change your destination all hands-free.
Unforunately you can’t get one on your melon just yet though. Skully doesn’t plan to launch the P1 until mid 2014, but the good news is that they’re currently accepting applications for beta testers. FIll out the form and you just might be one of the lucky few who get to take one for a spin before they go on sale.
