Frank Sinatra was buried with three things: a roll of dimes, a pack of Camel cigarettes with a Zippo lighter and a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. He loved his Jack so much, he once stood on stage, raised his glass to the audience and declared it the “nectar of the gods.” So to honor his legacy and love for Jack as we approach what would be his 100th birthday in 2015, Jack Daniel’s has introduced the newest addition to their family, Sinatra Select, just in time for holiday.
Special “Sinatra barrels” used to make this limited-edition whiskey are handcrafted with the addition of deep grooves that expose the product to extra layers of oak. The result is a 90 proof spirit with a rich amber color, pleasant smokiness and incredibly smooth vanilla finish. The smooth, bold character of the whiskey is meant to embody the smooth, bold character of Ol’ Blue Eyes himself.
“This fine Tennessee Whiskey, or Old No. 7 as he referred to it, was a favorite part of my father’s life, and he loved both sharing it with his friends and introducing it to new acquaintances,” Frank Sinatra, Jr. said. “I’m very pleased to continue to be a part of the Jack Daniel’s family and feel the introduction of Sinatra Select is an appropriate tribute as we near my father’s 100th birthday in 2015.”
We were lucky enough to taste Sinatra Select with Master Distiller Jeff Arnett when we were in Tennessee to judge the 25th Annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational BBQ, and now you can bring it home to friends and loved ones. It’s being sold at select retail locations in Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, San Francisco, New Jersey and Tennessee between now and the end of the year. If you get your hands on a bottle, be sure to enjoy it just like Sinatra did: two fingers on the rocks with a splash of water. Cheers!
