When it comes to classical, time-honoured American clothing brands, Gant is way up there with the greats. Steadfast and timeless. Naturally then, we were thrilled to hear that the brand is planning a huge expansion and has opened a second store in Brooklyn just months after the success of the ‘tasting table’ concept store that opened a few months ago in Williamsburg, which was designed to incorporate collaborations with some of the best local food and spirit companies. Just when you thought retail couldn’t get any dreamier right?
Located in Boerum Hill at 357 Atlantic Avenue, the second Williamsburg store has been designed as a Gant Rugger neighbourhood shop. Though the new store may be a tad cosier than the Williamsburg location, the concept is still designed to push our increasingly foodie-aware buttons: brasserie + clothing = the place to be.
The intimate design of the store successfully beckons in locals, with it’s antiquated central farm table, white tiles, tea stands and exposed brick walls- a style that we have been gravitating towards for some time now. Alongside plates of deliciousness, shoppers will find a curated collection of clothing and accessories from the brand’s Gant Rugger and Gant by Michael Bastian lines.
The brand’s Brooklyn invasion is a welcome one, given the heritage style that recurs each season. As a bonus ode to the district, the brand filmed their Pre Spring 2014 video campaign on the J train over the Williamsburg Bridge. Represent.
