Picture a classic mid-century motel and then take it up a notch adding in some quirky style, rock memorabilia and even some irreverent attitude. Yep, this isn’t your dad’s motel anymore. The Verb Hotel is hip, edgy, and it’s opening this summer in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood.
The 94-room hotel ties in the history of the Fenway Motor Hotel, which opened in 1959, with a fresh, renovated style. We’ve had a sneak peek at this rejuvenated beauty and one of the things we like best is the collection of rare music and pop-culture memorabilia. The Verb Hotel showcases historic Boston Phoenix covers as well as photographs of musicians who played locally or appeared on Boston’s famed classic rock station WFNX.
Developers came up with the name “The Verb” because this is a hotel that conveys energy and an action-packed lifestyle. You can check in, listen to music, gather with friends and enjoy a drink by the pool. It’s also reminiscent of the word “reverb,” which adds another connection to the rich musical heritage of the Fenway neighborhood.
“It’s all about hanging out with buddies, embracing the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll and having a great time,” says General Manager Anna Gaffney. “The outdoor pool and pool deck give the property a unique edge and provide a fun hangout in the heart of the city. Not to mention, The Verb is right across the street from Fenway Park, making it the ultimate Boston sports’ fan destination.”
The edgy style also includes quirky statements on the stairway walls and a unique story about each guest room. These features definitely make this hotel more than just a place to catch some sleep in between business meetings, ball games or sightseeing. The king and queen sized rooms offer style, comfort, private balconies and views of the pool or stadium.
Reservations are now being accepted for stays beginning July 15, 2014. Their grand opening offer gives guests a 10% discount.
