GF_14YO_BEAUTY_FINALGlenfiddich has some great news for all you whiskey lovers out there. The world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whiskey has launched and added a new spirit to its permanent portfolio, exclusive to the United States. Introducing Glenfiddich 14 Year Old, a bourbon barrel reserve that pays tribute to the shared history of American and Scotch whiskies.

Matured for 14 years in ex-bourbon American Oak casks, Glenfiddich 14 year Old hits your tastebuds like a smooth bourbon and finishes similar to a bold single malt. After it spends more than a decade in ex-bourbon barrels, Malt Master Brian Kinsman finishes the spirit in deep charred new American Oak barrels from The Kelvin Cooperage in Louisville, KY. The result is a beautiful, complex flavor that includes woody spices and ripe summer fruit for a rich, sweet, vibrant single malt.

“American Oak casks have had a significant influence on single malt Scotch whisky maturation and the flavor profiles we find today,” Kinsman said. “By maturing this expression in bourbon casks, we’ve created a beautifully intense flavor, reflective of the relentless passion we have for producing incredible single malts. With notes of fresh oak and velvety caramel, our 14 Year Old remains true to Glenfiddich’s heritage of producing fruity and deeply flavored whiskies and is the perfect marriage of bourbon sweetness and Scotch complexity.”

Presented in a deep navy blue casing, inspired by the Kentucky state flag, Glenfiddich 14 Year Old is certified Kosher and will be available nationally this fall at luxury whiskey retailers and premium bars and hotels. We were lucky enough to taste it alongside Brian Kinsman and Paul Kelvin of Kelvin Cooperage at Hometown Bar-B-Que in Brooklyn’s Red Hook neighborhood a couple weeks ago, and it’s everything we hoped it would be and more. It’s smooth, rich and sweet with layers of toffee, woody spices and candied orange peel. Not only is it great in cocktails, it’s easy to enjoy neat also.

Everyone loves an Espresso Martini, but that's not the only way to feature coffee in your cocktails. As today is National Espresso Day, we're thinking about other options for getting that beloved coffee flavor in our drinks and some fun twists on the classic recipe to expand our flavors beyond the typical.

The first suggestion comes from Chica~Chida, a peanut butter agave spirit brand which recommends using peanut butter spirit in place of the vodka to create a peanut butter take on the espresso martini. It also recommends using a small amount of Bailey's as a sweetner instead of the usual simple syrup, making for a creamy, indulgent and sweet combination that sounds irresistible.

Try the crisp and acidic coffee blends

Light roast coffee is a go-to choice for the occasional coffee drinker or those who prefer a milder, more delicate roast. Unlike dark roast coffee, which is bold and rich, light roast coffee has an acidic, brighter taste that highlights the natural taste of the coffee bean.

Due to the milder taste of light roast coffee, these blends are typically brewed using traditional drip coffee makers or pour-over coffee makers. Unlike medium and dark roast coffees, light roast beans contain more moisture inside the bean as a result of their shorter roasting time.
