Everyone's opinion on the 10 best movies of the year is going to be different, and the Oscars have the impossible task of providing their list to an enormous audience when they announce their best picture lineup. This year's nominees encompass a diverse array of genres and filmmaking styles, and everyone may not agree on whether each of them deserved a spot on the list.

Ultimately, though, the best picture nominees are a solid representation of what has happened over the past year at the movies. There are titles from services like Netflix and Apple TV+, but others that played in movie theaters before finding a second home on streaming. Now, as the Oscars approach, many people are looking to catch up on the titles that were nominated this year. Thankfully, that won't be as difficult as it might have been in years past.

Despite his origins as a teen pop star over 10 years ago, Justin Bieber remains at the forefront of pop music. Take whatever jabs you want, but the man has talent. The latest evidence of these chops is the Biebs’ nine total nominations for iHeartRadio Music Award nominations in 2022, including being up for Male Artist of the Year.

The national streaming event released its annual nominees last week, with singer-songwriter and actress Olivia Rodrigo following closely behind Bieber with eight nominations, which includes contention for Female Artist of the Year.

In an odd, ostentatious ceremony at the Beverly Hilton on December 16, the announcement for 2021 Golden Globe nominations came not from an actor, but from Snoop Dogg sporting a ‘Murder’ beanie. If anything, it was an interesting attempt to heal burned relations with Hollywood’s elite and television stations. (Last year’s scandal led NBC to drop televising the awards ceremony on January 9.)
