Awards season has just ended and this week in Los Angeles, and Omega held a very special dinner in Los Angeles with brand ambassador Eddie Redmayne to release the newest edition of the Globemaster Master Chronometer. According to the press release, over a week of testing went to creating the newest edition of the Omega family. “The Master Chronometer testing standards; set by the fiercely independent Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), are the toughest in the industry, comprised of eight rigorous tests over 10 days.”
“For me, there’s something about the design,” said Redmayne at the dinner. “It’s incredibly beautiful; it has a classic quality to it. It derives from a watch that OMEGA made in the ‘60s. And it has a mixture of a very modern appeal but a classic appeal to it as well. It means, for me, I can kind of wear it with anything. So that’s probably why I love it.”
The newest member of the Globemaster series, the Globemaster Annual Calendar will be officially launched at Baselworld 2016 in Switzerland. “The OMEGA Globemaster ‘Annual Calendar’ begins its evolution with a new case diameter that has been increased from 39mm to 41mm,” says the press release. “This new size allows for greater visibility of the ‘Pie Pan’ dial that is already a renowned feature of the Globemaster series. The dial is also presented in a brand new lustrous shade of grey and reintroduces a classic cross design that is reminiscent of vintage Constellation models.” The new annual calendar feature has been designed with an instantaneous jump. On the dial, each month is represented between the blue indexes, highlighted by a varnished blue hand. A special scratchproof tungsten carbide was used to make the polished fluted bezel.
The best thing about the Globemaster Annual Calendar is that it can withstand a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss, which in plain English means that magnets won’t confuse the precision of the Omega dial.
