We spoke with Jordan Andino, owner of 2nd City and Executive Chef of The VNYL about his career and personal style.
My name is Jordan Andino I was born in Toronto, Canada and then moved to California with my mom when I was nine years old and I’ve been cooking in professional kitchens since the age of 10. I grew to love kitchens because my dad is a professional chef and and I’ve now spent my entire life in commercial kitchens. Using my dad’s connections and my drive, I decided to pursue cooking as a professional career and have worked in some of the best kitchens in the US from Spago in Los Angeles, to the French laundry in Napa Valley.
I’ve now taken my love of cooking to partner with James and head the food program at the VNYL while also owning and operating a Filipino Taqueria in the West Village called 2nd City. I would say my brand has been and will always be youthful exuberance with a passion to grow and learn every day. My style is cool, collected, but not always calm because my fun and happy go lucky attitude sometimes get the best of me! See me in board shorts on a long board riding though New York City or in a three piece suit… but always ready have fun!
