The consequences of the lack of clean water trickles down, negatively affecting everything from health to economic opportunity and access to education. Women and girls spend up to six hours a day collecting water; that’s almost a full school day. Every 90 seconds a child dies of a water-related illness, which is entirely preventable. People Water decided to help.
The for-profit company created a simple but powerful business model: every time you drink a bottle of People Water, your purchase provides the same amount of water to places in need around the world. They call it the Drop For Drop initiative.
They allow nature to do the work when it comes to purifying their bottled water– no lab required. It’s 100% natural spring water with a 7.2 pH or higher. The folks at People Water do everything they can to keep their carbon footprint as small as possible: their plastic bottles are entirely recyclable, they use eco-friendly materials, and all bottles are BPA-free. The bottle also has a QR code that will allow you to see, in real time, what kind of project your purchase is funding. Projects like–
Repairing 22 hand pumps in Haiti, providing clean water for almost 8,000 people; digging a brand new well in Ghana, helping 250 people; training five hand pump mechanics in Bihar, India, which allows them to help sustain almost 700 wells. That job training positively impacts over 25,000 people. In Matagalpa, Nicaragua, People Water repaired eight wells and funded sustainability programs, impacting 1,300 people.
Clean, working wells are incredible, providing on average 1,000 liters of water a day. If dug deeply enough and properly maintained, these wells can continue to provide water for decades. All total, so far People Water has provided 1,528,672 gallons to people around the globe and literally counting.
People Water is probably the most guilt-free bottle of water you’ll ever buy, rippling through the world as it helps people live healthier lives and gives them brighter futures. And it’s definitely the easiest way to save a life.
