Grailed is The Holy Grail of Designer Marketplaces

According to the English dictionary, grail is a noun that is defined as any greatly desired or sought-after object.

When you think of the term “grail” in a fashion sense, labels and brands such as Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Gucci, and Saint Laurent all come to mind. We put these brands on a pedestal because they reside at the pinnacle of men’s fashion. They’re the brands we covet, hence why they are deemed as a grail in the eyes of the fashion conscious individuals.

It’s similar to that of other online marketplaces like Craigslist or LetGo, but Grailed was created to make great clothing and shoes affordable and available to everyone.

If you’re hunting for a bargain, there are three separate market sections you can browse to find the item your are searching for. Grailed is for high-quality, coveted items that can spread across any genre. Here you will find well-known luxury designer pieces, like the labels listed above, that are in wearable condition. Hype is for new streetwear releases and the latest drops for brands such as Supreme and Yeezy, and Basics is for well-known, mass market brands like Zara and Ralph Lauren, as well as vintage clothing.

Once you find the item you coveted, you can either purchase the item for the listed asking price or make an offer to start negotiations with the seller.

If some items are collecting dust in your closet because you no longer wear them, don’t waste the space – you can sell them on Grailed. If you’re not quite sure what price you should list your item for, you can browse comparable items on the site and price at your discretion. As with any online marketplace, some items do not sell quite as well or quickly as others. With that in mind, you can “bump” your item to the top of Grailed’s homepage feed every seven days, or you can use the “Drop price by 10%” button to move your item to the top at any time. This will allow your item to be viewed as many times as possible and increase it’s likelihood of being seen by someone who is searching for that exact item. Once your item sells, Grailed will notify you and pay you immediately via your PayPal account.

Grailed also has a blog page titled “Dry Clean Only” that you can find in the top left corner of their homepage. Here you will find helpful, recurring articles such as “The Best #GrailFits of the Week”, “Staff Picks”, and “Street Style”. These posts aim to inspire your look with some of the best pieces they have seen on the streets in fashionable cities such as New York, London, and Paris. If you spot a look or particular item you like, they often list those same pieces under each picture if they are currently available to purchase on their site. They are great reads for those that are keeping up with the latest trends and styles in streetwear and men’s fashion.

Before you ever pay retail and markup prices again, check out Grailed first because you’re likely to score a deal on a quality hand-me-down with a designer label.

Vast Fast Fashion Firm, Shein, Accused of Design Theft
A pile of multi-patterned textiles.

Fast fashion describes clothing designs that move from the catwalk to clothing stores with a quickness to profit from popping trends. Not only does fast fashion add to environmental degradation as discarded threads become waste clogging the Earth, but the custom also provides a great opportunity for design theft. Nanjing, China-based Shein might be the index case for this fast practice.

Founded in 2008, Shein is now the world’s largest online fashion company by sales of self-branded products, according to market analyst Euromonitor. This incredible success from what used to be a tiny wholesale clothing company, unfortunately, includes numerous claims of design fraud. As the giant online fast-fashion player encroaches upon the long-held territory of more established big box store rivals like Zara and H&M, designers from Levi Strauss and Stüssy to solo Canadian and British artists are accusing Shein of trademark infringement. The online fashion house vehemently denies the accusations but now faces multiple multi-million suits as well as a declining reputation in the international marketplace. Whether or not that slows down the behemoth, however, remains to be seen.

TravisMathew Dives Into Active Performance Clothing For Pros and Amateurs Alike
Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso sports TravisMathew's Active Heater Line on a playground basketball court.

There’s a careful balance to maintain between fashion and function when considering workout clothing. Too much sweat and too little wick or too much flair and too little subtlety, and the whole thing gets thrown off. Twice now, premier lifestyle brand TravisMathew seems to have pulled off this delicate dance.

After the innovative lifestyle and performance apparel brand’s success with the Heater Golf Series, TravisMathew announced the creation and launch of their Heater Active line this November. The Heater Active Series is the textiler’s most technical fabric collection yet, providing heightened performance elements without compromising TravisMathew’s signature style or diverting from its target market — vigorous men in smart threads.
