QT Hotels & Resorts, Australia’s leading design hotel collection, just redid Wellington, New Zealand’s former Museum Art Hotel, now called the QT Museum Wellington.
The brand spent $9 million renovating and redecorating the space, which is just a stone’s throw from the Wellington Museum.
“In acquiring this iconic hotel brimming with personality, which has become a favorite for visitors and locals alike, we wanted to evolve and build on its unique character,” said QT managing director David Seargeant. “We have developed this by highlighting the eclectic feel while ensuring the quirky character of the QT brand features strongly.”
Chris Parkin, the former owner of the Museum Park Hotel, adds “”The QT brand aligns so well with my original vision and philosophy for the hotel,” he said. “ It’s heartening to see the legacy the Museum Art Hotel has built, evolve with the stunning QT makeover and now rightfully aligned with the new name QT Museum Wellington.”
The hotel features high-tech spaces, private event venues and Hippopotamus Restaurant & Bar, serving French cuisine, helmed by executive chef Laurent Loudeac. Hot Sauce, a new Japanese and Korean street food bar set to open in mid-2017.
Architect and designer Shelley Indyk redesigned the rooms, which carry everything that embodies QT — a little bit of art, a little bit of quirk, and a lot of style. The hotel mixes high and low, and gives you a sense of fantasy, so that you actually feel like you’re getting away from it all. Get some rest in the sleep-inducing QT Gel Bed, enjoy Nespresso anytime you need a caffeine boost. Listen to music on the Bose Sound System.
The hotel is located at the stunning Wellington Harbour. You can visit the Harbourside Market, and many of Wellington’s other sites.
Next time you travel outside of the United States towards the Pacific, and head to New Zealand, when you want a hotel that fuses together, style, design and art with comfort and hospitality, book a room at QT Museum Wellington.
