You Can ‘Find Yourself’ on these Ultra-Luxurious, Wellness-Inspired Tours

Abercrombie & Kent

Valentine’s Day has come and gone. It’s been a month since you officially abandoned your 2019 New Year’s resolutions. If you’re looking to get back on the horse, what better way than a proper wellness-centric vacation? Abercrombie & Kent’s latest offerings may be just what you need, assuming money is no object.

New for 2019, luxe travel provider Abercrombie & Kent announced a category of unique Wellness-Inspired Cultural Journeys. Every itinerary is designed to immerse travelers in experiences and ancient practices that foster overall health and well-being through things like mindfulness, authentic cultural interactions, meditation, and clean eating. All promise bucket-list-worthy opportunities — think morning runs with the Maasai, cycling through Siem Reap, learning about ritual structures in Machu Picchu from a world-renowned scholar, and giving silent alms to local monks in Luang Prabang — in the world’s wildest, most beautiful destinations.

The itineraries vary widely and all can be tailored to suit travelers’ personal preferences. “Wellness Peru: Spirit of the Incas,” for example, embraces the country’s mountainous landscape with related mental and physical activities. Guests can learn about ayahuasca, trek remote villages, kayak in a secluded lagoon more than 12,000 feet above sea level, and partake in a personal coca-leaf fortune reading by a local shaman. “Wellness Southeast Asia: Timeless Rituals of Indochina” immerses travelers in the millennia-old traditions of Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Over the course of 13 days, visitors can catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat, learn about Khmer cuisine in a traditional cooking class, and experience an inspirational baci ceremony in Luang Prabang. “Wellness Kenya: Cultures & Wildlife,” on the other hand, takes a more active approach to wellness amid Africa’s most dramatic landscapes. Tour-goers can learn about the traditional warrior training of the Maasai people, travel an active safari in Tsavo National Park and Masai Mara, and hike the cloud forests of the verdant Chyulu Hills.

Of course, all this luxury-infused wellness doesn’t come cheap. Most itineraries in Abercrombie & Kent’s Wellness-Inspired Cultural Journeys catalog start north of $7,000 per person, not including airfare. However, that price tag does include gourmet meals, expert local guide service, guaranteed small groups of no more than 18, and five-star accommodations at some of the world’s most beautiful boutique hotels and lodges. We all know how much easier it is to “find yourself” when you’re surrounded by 24-hour room service, the finest Egyptian cotton sheets, and near-daily massage treatments.
