For this week’s episode of Beards, Booze, and Bacon: The Manual Podcast, Managing Editor Nicole Raney, Food & Drink Editor Sam Slaughter, and our wonderful host, Greg Nibler, chat with the president of Sagamore Spirit, Brian Treacy.

Sagamore Spirit is a Maryland-based rye whiskey producer that has risen through the ranks of Baltimore’s attractions to become the second best destination in the entire city (and that’s just in the first year that they’ve been open)! On the podcast, we discuss Treacy’s career before Sagamore (hint: it doesn’t involve whiskey at all, but it does involve the Grand Canyon), what it has been like to see his company grow, and — most importantly — rye whiskey!

Don’t know what makes a rye whiskey? Never heard of “Maryland-style” rye before? After listening to this episode, you’ll know all of that and more. We will warn you, though: This episode is going to make you thirsty.

Will ‘Landman’ be back for a second season?
The Paramount hit is facing an uncertain future.
Billy Bob Thornton in Landman

The future of Landman is, somewhat mystifyingly, a little uncertain. The show has yet to be renewed for a second season, which is probably a surprise to anyone who enjoyed the first. The first season definitely doesn't resolve all of the ongoing plot threads of the show, and it was also a massive success for Paramount. Given that context, it seems like an obvious decision for Paramount to renew the show, but they haven't done so yet.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, star Billy Bob Thornton shared what he knew about the potential for a second season. “I understand that if we're going to do that, Season 2, that it's going to be sometime around February, March, somewhere in there. I mean, we'll see. It just depends on how the chips may fall. You never know in this business," he said.

Yellowstone season 6: Everything we know about the show’s future
Will there be a Yellowstone season 6?
The cast of Yellowstone

While The Walking Dead was once basic cable's most popular series, it has since been surpassed by Yellowstone, the smash hit that rejuvenated Kevin Costner's career and gave him yet another iconic role to play.

As conceived by series co-creators Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, Yellowstone is a modern Western about the Dutton family, the owners of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in Montana. That land is extremely valuable, which is why John Dutton (Costner) and his family have gone to great lengths to protect it. And sometimes, the threats come from within the family, which is why John's children, Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Beth (Kelly Reilly), are at each other's throats in season 5.

Is ‘St. Denis Medical’ coming back for a second season?
The show has been one of the highest rated series on NBC through its first season.
Alison Tolman in St Denis Medical

The slate of new network comedies in 2024 was well above average, and St. Denis Medical was one of the best. The hospital-set sitcom is a mockumentary that follows a group of nurses, doctors, and staff who are working in an underfunded hospital in Oregon, and Variety is reporting that it has been renewed for a second season.

Like Abbott Elementary before it, St. Denis Medical is at least partially about good people working inside a broken system. As they treat their patients, they find themselves constantly working against policies that seem designed to make providing great care impossible.
