Denali’s Stunning Live-Edge Wood Furniture

Now that the industrial era has come and gone, Portland’s central eastside industrial district has slowly been taken over by a wave of new entrepreneurial businesses — little artisan shops, studios, breweries, restaurants, and the like — but there are still few places where the oldschool industrial spirit lives on.

Denali Furniture is one of those places. Family owned and operated for over a decade, the company specializes in magnificent custom-made wooden furnishings with a subtle industrial aesthetic. They make just about everything you can imagine– shelves, cabinets, benches, etc.– but if they’ve got a specialty, it’s most definitely their massive, live-edge wood tables.

Made from little more than a single slab of wood and some sturdy cast iron legs, each table is a shining example of how beauty is often derived from simplicity. The slabs are typically salvaged from fallen giants that would’ve otherwise been used for firewood, and the cast iron is sourced from old engine parts, so the tables are just as eco-friendly as they are gorgeous. Check out the video below to get a behind-the-scenes look at how they’re made, or just head over to Denali’s website for more info.
