Epperson Mountaineering: Modern Packs with Retro Style

If you’re looking for a rock-solid backpack with all the charm of the 1980’s, but the technology and materials of the modern day, look no further than Epperson Mountaineering.

The company was founded back in 1973, and while the materials Epperson uses to make its packs has evolved over the years, the brand’s unique retro styling hasn’t changed a bit. They’ve got a few newer models that are somewhat period-neutral, but the majority of the company’s collection wouldn’t look out of place next to a Walkman and a “Where’s The Beef” t-shirt.

And don’t be fooled by the looks either – this isn’t a brand that’s all form and no function. Founder Mark Epperson has been striving to design the world’s best backpack for damn near five decades, and after all those years of experimentation and careful tweaking, he’s developed a line of packs that are as utilitarian as they are unique.

Produced from start to finish in the company’s small Montana workshop, Epperson’s backpacks offer a masterclass in handcrafted construction. Materials like 1000 denier Cordura and mil-spec webbing make them ridiculously durable; and the high-grade tanned leather detailing, double sewn seams, beefy YKZ zippers, and reinforced stress points really set the company’s rucksacks apart from the competition.

Check ’em out on the company’s website. They might not be as well known as Osprey or Arc’teryx, but if you try one out you definitely wont be disappointed.

Old Faithful Inn
Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone was the world’s very first national park, and it’s home to one of the most popular attractions: Old Faithful. With over a million eruptions on record, Old Faithful has people flocking daily to catch the geyser spewing boiling water over 100 feet into the air. To truly take in the history and grandeur of the site, a stay at Old Faithful Inn is a must. Built from local trees in 1904, it is the largest log structure in the world. For a traditional rustic lodging experience, book the Old House, which features exposed log walls. There are no televisions, radios, or air conditioning in these rooms, so you'll truly be roughing it -- exactly how a stay at Yellowstone should be.

Meet Article, A Modern Furniture Brand Made for Millennials
how article came to shape the way we shop for furniture behind scenes employees delivering prodcuts

For younger Millennials and Gen Z, the internet and online shopping have always been a part of their lives. Starting with Pizza Hut launching the very first online shopping platform in the United States in 1994 (followed closely behind by Amazon and eBay), these kids have never known a world where every product wasn’t at their fingertips. It seems natural now that we buy from the comfort of our own homes.

For those same folks who are just stepping out on their own and getting ready to furnish their first place, they will naturally turn to the internet for all of their furniture needs. But furniture was actually one of the last products to be successfully sold online. This is especially true of seating. The sofa is one of the biggest expenses when decking out a new place and customers want to try it out before purchasing. Even when you can complete the sale online, many older generations still want to experience sitting in, touching, and looking at a sofa or armchair in person before committing to buying it. However, as with everything else, Millennials have changed the way we shop for furniture and one company that saw this trend coming early on was Article.

How to Cultivate Industrial Style in Your Own Home
industrial-interior-design

Urban Industrial design is unique in comparison to other home styles. Instead of manifesting from an architectural movement, this gritty look came from a lifestyle choice of artists and musicians. Forgoing traditional housing for makeshift live-work spaces inside of abandoned warehouses and factories, artists created this thrown-together look of street finds, thrift store purchases, and pieces made out of whatever happened to be laying around.

In the last decade, industrial has gone from a style of necessity to a trendy, cultivated look that meshes disparate styles inside of brick-walled lofts.
