This Luxury Villa in Portugal has a Ridiculously Cool Glass Bottom Pool

For years, Portugal has quietly built a reputation among architects and designers as a leader in innovation. The country has been working hard to attract the best creative minds in an effort to develop a thriving artistic community. So, it’s no wonder one of the world’s most stunning new residences was built by Portuguese architectural firm Guedes Cruz Architects. The group’s Wall House is an 11,840-square-foot modern minimalist masterpiece complete with a glass bottom pool.

Located on the edge of a golf course in the coastal resort town of Cascais, Wall House is a luxury villa outfitted with all the amenities one would expect to find. The open concept floor plan includes a gourmet kitchen, spacious living area, four bedrooms, and five bathrooms. There are plenty of outdoor lounge areas that take advantage of the views of Oitavos Dunes golf course.

THE WALL HOUSE

When creating Wall House, architects Jose Guedes Cruz, Cesar Marques, and Marco Marinho strove to incorporate the minimalist style of connecting the building to the land. Though it could be considered a mansion, unlike typical large-scale homes, Wall House does not compete with the surrounding landscape. The living area boasts a wall of glass, allowing natural light to flood the space and providing uninterrupted views to outside. Natural wood slat covers on the exterior can be closed when privacy is needed. The team incorporated living walls throughout the home to bring color and life to the simple concrete and wood finishes. Rooms are honestly furnished in a predominately white color palette; pops of green and blues create the feeling of being in a relaxing, high-end spa.

But it’s the home’s two pools that have everyone talking.

The ground-floor patio features the first pool. Protected from the harsh Atlantic winds by a mobile glass wall, the patio includes a large lounge and dining area. Floating perpendicularly above the first pool is the second pool, which has a glass bottom that allows swimmers to see down to the ground floor patio, creating a sensation of floating in air.

Bridges were used throughout the property to create a connection between spaces. The first bridge takes you from the entry gate to the front door. A bridge from the second floor of the main house connects to the patio for the floating pool. The pool itself acts as a bridge over the ground floor patio. The open-air walkways are yet another way Guedes Cruz strove to connect the home to nature. The entire project is a beautiful study in the minimalist principle of seamlessly blending architecture with nature.

The 22 best food documentaries of all time: The ultimate list
Looking for a hard-hitting documentary about food? Here's a list of the best options
For Grace documentary

When it comes to high-quality viewing, the culinary world has all of the ingredients for maximum entertainment. The pressure, the skill, the high stakes — it all makes for great television. Documentaries about food take this one extra step; often focusing on a sensational or troubling plot within the industry or how a chef or restaurant grew to prominence (or came crashing down).

Whether it's simply witnessing what it's like to be a Michelin-star talent in the world of cooking or digging into a scandal that plagued the entire wine realm, food docs offer a window into a pretty exclusive world. Whether you're a foodie or someone like me who doesn't care much about food at all, these movies will help you appreciate the artistry that goes into crafting a good meal. And, just as importantly, they can show you what happens when your best-laid plans go horribly awry. Food docs are great precisely because of how much they spotlight both the people and the food they make.

One ‘Harry Potter’ franchise director has weighed in on the HBO reboot
The director was responsible for the first two installments in the original franchise.
Harry Potter holding a wand and looking disappointed.

From 2001 to 2011, the Harry Potter franchise was one of the most dominant ongoing franchises in Hollywood. The final installments seemed to cement the franchise as the definitive version of this story but in an era filled with reboots, it was only a matter of time before they came for Harry Potter. As casting news continues to leak out about the new Harry Potter series that HBO is developing, one of the original franchise's directors has weighed in on the new version of the story.

"The fact that they have the leisure of [multiple] episodes for each book, I think that's fantastic," director Christopher Columbus told People. "You can get all the stuff in the series that we didn't have an opportunity to do ... all these great scenes that we just couldn't put in the films."

The 8 most popular Netflix shows ever, based on record-breaking viewership
Stranger Things and Squid Game headline Netflix's height
An early look at Squid Game season 2.

The Nielsen ratings used to be the gold-standard measurement of TV popularity. Programs like M.A.S.H, The Cosby Show, and All in the Family dominated the weekly numbers with tens of millions of viewers tuning in. As streaming took over in the 2010s, these rating systems started to become obsolete for some of the biggest shows on the planet. But how does a company like Netflix determine what show is most popular?

There is data for both the number of viewers and the number of hours viewed that Netflix has published on its Tudum site. The numbers are for individual seasons of TV, not for total views across several seasons. This means that the most popular Netflix shows might be the same ones over and over, just for different seasons. These are the eight most viewed seasons in Netflix history to binge-watch and enjoy.
