Got an extra 2.5 mil to spare? Get yourself a Wally 55, or as we like to call it, the Goldilocks yacht. It’s not too big, not too small, but juuust right. This thing is so stylish, so sleek, and so beautifully minimalist, it almost doesn’t feel right to call it a yacht – it’s more of a floating work of art than anything else. And the best part? It’s got all the bells and whistles you get with a 80 or 100 footer, but with a fraction of the price tag.
The secret is all in the design. Unlike most other yachts, the Wally 55 features a completely open cockpit, giving it an unusually expansive deck area. The helm opens up into a U-shaped seating area, complete with an array of suede cushions to keep you and your shipmates comfortable. Up front, a sleek, angular windscreen separates this midship area from the spacious bow deck, and the aft features an extendable hydraulic swim platform that can also be used to lower a jet ski into the water.
Inside the hull, the living space features either two or three cabins, and comes standard with a luxurious galley/salon area for all your food and drink needs. The engine room is also customizable, with the option of either four 435 horsepower Volvo Penta D6 engines, or twin V12 1360 HP MANs- the latter of which can propel the boat up to 55 knots. That means you could make it from Key West to Cuba in an hour and a half, smoke a cigar with Raul Castro, and still make it back to Miami for dinner.
