With summer upon us, it’s time to start planning ways in which to get the most out of the season. You’ve got to get outside and enjoy the hot summer sun, but that doesn’t mean technology can’t be a big help in getting you there. There are so many different apps available for both Android and iOS platforms devoted to making summer better that you’d never be able to make use of all of them. The more you can narrow your list down, the better.

While we could probably fill an entire book with great summer apps, here are a handful that you simply can’t afford to ignore now that the sun is shining bright.

  1. AwayFind

For busy professionals, getting out of the office during the summer can be easier said than done. You’ve got to take time for yourself and unplug, however, if you want to have a happy and productive life without suffering from burnout. For this, you have AwayFind at your fingertips. AwayFind helps to filter your email inbox when you go on vacation so that you’re only receiving and dealing with messages that are of crucial importance. There’s a lot to be said for the peace of mind that can come from stepping away from all but the most important emails your receive each day, and even though it isn’t cheap at $4.99 per month, AwayFind is the ticket to the most relaxing vacations you’ve had in years.

  1. Weatherbug

Keeping an eye on the weather is one of the most important things you can do throughout the summer to ensure that you don’t make poor planning decisions. While there are countless weather apps available for both major mobile platforms, we like Weatherbug the most. It’s simple, clean and effective, providing all of the information you need in order to plan a fun day or week and avoid getting caught in a storm. Plus, it’s free.

  1. Eventbrite

It doesn’t matter if you’re currently living somewhere you’ve been for years or if you’re traveling somewhere for the first time — you need to know what’s going on around you this summer. If you were to tell people years ago that you’d be able to scan the area around you for events that are happening in real time by simply picking up a device that lives in your pocket, they’d likely have called you crazy. This is exactly what makes smartphones so brilliant, however, and it’s where Eventbrite comes in. Eventbrite gives you a wealth of information about music, sports, art and other types of events that are happening around you, regardless of where you may be. It’s excellent for those who are on a trip and have a leisurely day on their hands, but it’s just as effective for planning a week of fun in your hometown. The fact that it doesn’t cost any money certainly doesn’t hurt, either.

Super Troopers’ Jay Chandrasekhar Launches Vouch Vault App
A Vouch Vault user screen grab.

General movie apps are comprehensive at best and misleading at worst. How do you know whose take to trust? Wouldn’t it be easier to get recommendations from friends and family, people whose opinion you understand and whose experiences you can have faith in?

Enter Vouch Vault, an app where people “vouch” for items and experiences that come as lived events. Users can follow friends’ suggestions and directions as to the best things to do through shared counsel. The free app is designed to change the way people read and review recommendations. Toggle between media, services, food, and products in your feed, and user Vaults.

You don’t even have to be an avid sports fan to excitedly anticipate the Olympics every two years, when many of us are glued to our screens to watch the best of the best athletes compete in the Summer Olympics or Winter Olympic Games. With the diversity of sports, the emotional backstories of some of the top athletes representing their countries, and true feats of physical prowess and grit demonstrated in each event, the Olympic Games are nearly as engaging and exciting for viewers around the world as they may be for the athletes striving to compete in them.
Both the Summer and Winter Olympics are an integral part of the fabric of our culture and are memorable events every time they roll around. Although each iteration of the Olympic Games only occurs once every four years, the Summer and Winter Olympics take place on a staggered cycle, which means we get to see one of the versions of the Olympics roughly every two years. However, there are quite a few differences between the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics, from the obvious, like the specific sports contested to the more minute, like the number of nations represented. A Disney+ free trial gives you a glimpse into the successful content from the Marvel and Star Wars universes which made the platform popular. The Disney+ bundle offer packages ESPN+ and Hulu for one lower rate to subscribers. The bundle has made Disney+ even more attractive for some people who may not have otherwise subscribed. As the number of streaming services continues to increase, though, many consumers are going to have to make some tough choices about which ones are worth it and which ones aren't.

If, after careful evaluation, you decide that Disney+ isn't a streamer that you absolutely need, you can cancel your subscription. Actually canceling your subscription can be tricky, and it depends in part on how you initially signed up for the service. If you signed up through a browser, canceling is fairly straightforward. If you used the mobile app to sign up, though, things can get a little more complicated. The good news is that, even after you end your subscription, you'll still be able to use Disney+ until the end of your next billing cycle.
