Trekking: The Vasque Inhaler GTX hits the high notes (and more)

Man isn’t meant to stay indoors — our weekly “Trekking” column can attest to that. It’s a column dedicated to the adventurer inside of all of us, the one pining to ditch the office humdrum for a quick surf session or seven-week jaunt in the Grand Tetons. One day we may highlight an ultra-light stove and the next a set of handmade canoe paddles. Life doesn’t just happen inside the workplace, so get outside and live it.

Outdoor activities don’t get much easier than hiking, and honestly, do they always need to? Traversing your nearby trail system — whether it funnels you through winding, foreign canyons or places you beneath a dense canopy of leaves in your own backyard — is one of the most fundamental experiences in human existence. That said, there’s more to think about when choosing a pair of hiking boots than just weight and how they look upon your feet. The best of them provide both lightweight performance and comfort, while still allowing your feet to breathe. Hence, the Vasque Inhaler GTX ($160).

Vasque Inhaler GTXSince its initial inklings more than half a century ago, Vasque has always been a company that builds performance wear for nature and, in turn, is inspired by it. The outdoor manufacturer’s lineup of performance hiking boots is formidable, peppered with standouts that feature cutting-edge technology designed to tackle obstacles that might fall outside what we’d dub the “norm.” The Inhaler GTX is one such example, though, the durable high-top also happens to be one of our favorites given its featherweight framework and resounding penchant for durability.

The Inhaler GTX is no slouch when it comes to hiking. The rugged boots are built upon the standard fit of an athletic shoe, yet, they tout classic Gore-Tex for thwarting the unexpected thunderstorm and dual-density, EVA footbed for the utmost ankle support. The low-friction lacing takes practicality even further, while the mesh paneling and a constellation of minuscule, air-permeable grids help regulate temperature and improve breathability when temperatures begin to soar. The rigid, rubber outsole ties it all together, allowing you to stick it out on the trail as long as your legs permit — which, frankly, could be a bit longer with the help of Vasque.

9 best Walton Goggins TV shows: From Justified to The Righteous Gemstones
Google Goggins and you'll find a show you love
Walton Goggins in The White Lotus season 3

My favorite type of actor is the one where I'm watching my new favorite show, and they appear on the screen, and I immediately tell my brother (who happens to be my go-to TV-watching partner), "It's that guy!" No name, no recollection of where I've seen him before. "He's in everything!" This is the best compliment someone can give an actor when they star in a new project. Sure, it's probably fun to be Tom Hanks or Denzel Washington, but those superstars almost devour the characters they play. It's sometimes a disservice to a story when the actors are so famous that they can't help but overshadow the role they're playing.

Walton Goggins is the ultimate "I know him!" TV actor of the 21st century. This man is a chameleon to the highest degree. Goggins transforms from a bitter boomer on a vacation to a transgender motorcycle mama in the blink of an eye. His talents have finally garnered him the recognition he deserves. Before he outgrows his discreet status as TV's most versatile performer, it's time to collect all of his best TV shows into one nice package. After reading this list you'll finally be able to put a name to his face when he's in another great show. These are the best Walton Goggins TV shows.

April binge guide: The best shows on Amazon Prime
An ultimate list of the best shows available to stream on Amazon Prime
Alan Ritchson in Reacher

Even if you've picked a streaming service, it can be impossible to narrow down what you're really looking for. If you've run out of the best Netflix movies and Netflix Original series to watch, you'll need to find somewhere else to turn. Fortunately, Netflix is far from the only game in town. Anyone who uses Amazon Prime to get packages delivered to them quickly also has access to a library of fairly impressive shows and movies.

Amazon is a mega corporation, and you and I both know that it might not care that much about its streaming offerings. It's not it makes its money, or at least most of it. Even still, I was shocked at how many great shows you can watch on Prime, including some you might not expect.

Top picks for April: The best movies on Paramount+
Though a newer entry to the streaming world, Paramount+ has some good picks
Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick

Paramount Plus is one of the newer arrivals on the streaming scene, and while its roster is rolling out plenty of exciting streaming original and acquired shows, there are plenty of movies on Paramount Plus that are worth exploring. From the classic to the current and from the vintage to the very new, Paramount+ offers an excellent movie lineup that rivals any other streaming service, even Netflix.
That might seem hard to believe, but between its library of classic titles and the fact that Paramount still puts new movies out every year, there are few services that offer you more bang for your buck. Personally, I could spend all day perusing the streaming service without running out of interesting things to watch.
