Cottage Opens in Miami

If you head to Miami to escape the winter blues this season, make sure to check out Cottage Miami. Located in the up-and-coming Sunset Harbour neighborhood, it’s one of the few stores dedicated just to men (and not the Versace wearing kind!).

Opened by a former lawyer, Ariel Burman who noticed a major gap in the market, he took the opportunity to transform a 1,000 square-foot garage along the bay into a cool destination for dudes to find preppy and well-tailored options for the modern gent who doesn’t find the neon tees and roller blades on South Beach necessarily appealing.

All of the merchandise is edited and curated by Ariel himself from brands such as APC, Band of Outsiders, Baxter of California, Michael Bastian, Mollusk, Saturdays Surf NYC, and Sunspel. The boutique will be, for the moment, the only place in Miami Beach one can find highly sought after collections by Stubbs & Wootton, Todd Snyder, Armando Cabral, Monsieur Lacenaire, Catherine Zadeh, WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie and more.  It will cater to surfers and sailors, to lawyers and professionals.

The Cottage will also stock books, magazines and luckily will feature a bar offering up craft beers from local breweries. The idea was to stock the shop as if it were a cabin perched in the hills anywhere from Nantucket to Malibu or Biarritz, France. You may find a canoe in one corner and a surfboard in another.

“Preppy style has evolved from less  a costume look into something more wearable and relevant.  If you’re wearing an outfit from my store, the first word that comes to mind is ‘gentleman’,” reflects Burman.  “My signature style can be found among the racks: structured jeans with a single cuff to show off some bright colored footwear – dressed up for drinks on the beach with a sport coat or relaxed with a tie that looks – and feels – well-worn.”

Cottage Miami is located at 1784 West Avenue, Bay 5, Miami Beach, Florida.  Store hours are daily from 10:30am-7pm.

Hockerty releases Barcelona part II of fall/winter 2024
Straight leg trousers and double-breasted suits lead the way
Hockerty on the street

Hockerty is one of the go-to menswear spots to get your own personalized and unique pieces. They embody an ethos that allows you to break out of the boxes the fashion industry has forced into you for too long. Instead of keeping up with the trends of an industry that doesn't even know you exist and trying to make what others love look good on you, they want to dress the real you by offering custom clothing. With them, you get to have the high-quality garments you love that look great and make you feel great. While fashion forces you into popular looks, style allows you to radiate in your look. That doesn't mean that Hockerty doesn't offer ideas and direction, which is what their 2024 lookbook does. The Hockerty Fall and Winter 2024 collection, Barcelona, gets a part two, and it embodies everything we love about our own belief that fashion is what you wear and style is how you wear it.
A fresh take on iconic style

Iconic menswear staples like field jackets, chinos, and straight-leg trousers are reimagined with a dynamic twist, balancing timeless tones like grays, blues, and browns with bold accents like cinnamon red and smoky pink. A curated layering selection revives mid-century charm (perfect for swapping your cold outdoor layers with warm indoor layers) using Oxford stripes and relaxed cotton polos that fit Don Draper to a T. At the same time, lightweight jackets with utility pockets lend a refined yet practical touch to your after-work drinks or weekend outings. The standouts of the collection are, without a doubt, the reddish brown three-piece suit, the navy velvet suit, and we couldn't overlook the red military jacket.

From Gucci to James Bond: The rise of the Tom Ford suit
Get your own suit good enough for 007
Tom Ford Gray Glenn Plaid

Very few things are better in a man's wardrobe than the right suit. So many of us feel that we look our best when we dress in a good suit. While there are plenty of other options when getting dressed, the suit just seems to be the pinnacle of style and elegance. Of course, there are some very good reasons for that. James Bond always dresses up in a suit and tie, and we always love to emulate the iconic 007.

One of the main reasons this new generation loves to emulate James Bond and his suits is Tom Ford, the legendary designer who was responsible for ensuring Daniel Craig lived up to the Bond aesthetic. But there was a long road from Tom Ford's beginnings to James Bond rocking a Tom Ford suit.
