The DSPTCH X Descente Collection is Packable Clothing Done Right

Packable clothing is some of the most utilitarian pieces of clothing or gear that you’ll ever own — at least, from our do-everything outdoor-adventuring opinion. From down jackets that pack into their own pockets to T-shirts, pants, and vests that do the same (or better), packable clothing is integral to ultralight backpacking, for auto-related weather emergencies or strandings, or even just so you’re always ready for the next big adventure.

When it comes to packable clothing, we prefer the kind that also doubles as activewear. This means we’re looking for performance fabrics that wick moisture, regulate temperature, and dry quickly. It also doesn’t hurt if the clothing can pack down into a size that is much smaller than it would be if folded in the regular way. Luckily, luxury Japanese performance brand Descente has teamed up with San Francisco design studio DSPTCH for the Descente X DSPTCH Packable Clothing Collection. Including five pieces — a jacket, a vest, t-shirt, long sleeve T-shirt, and shorts — the packable collection does just that: packs down into tightly compressed pouches to make storing and carrying easier.

Along with the packability, the pieces are also fairly wrinkle resistant and come in three colors: gray, black, and navy. Made from 100% polyester, the pieces are, as desired, moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and offer a traditional (read: looser) fit. The top pieces are great for throwing over whatever you’re already wearing and the shorts offer a quick change option if things get too hot on the trail. We personally keep our sample of this collection in our car trunk with our safety equipment, extra blankets, and trail gear because you never know when you’ll need a light jacket, vest, or T-shirt when you’re on the road.

Inside Bugatchi’s FW25 collection: Where elegance meets introspection
Anthony Keegan tells us where the FW25 collection came from
BUGATCHI showroom

When perusing the brands and the shows of New York Fashion Week, I got the distinct pleasure of stepping into Bugatchi's showroom on 57th Street to get a look at their new collection. And while the Bugatchi Fall and Winter 25 was a thing to behold, with stellar blazers, beautiful outerwear, and, of course, the best shirts on the market. However, there is more to a collection than just the aesthetic beauty. Lucky for me, I was able to get some understanding of the deeper meanings driving FW25 by sitting down with Creative Director Anthony Keegan.
The complexities of the modern man

Being a man is simplistic on the surface. There is a stoic straightforwardness presented to the world with a deep and profound identity underneath, meant to drive us. While much of the outside world wants us to keep that buried, Bugatchi's new collection urges us to release it from its inner depths with style.

If you are a TV guy, you may be excited about the upcoming third season of The White Lotus. The series is a deep dive, albeit comedic, into the worst of the worst that the human race has to offer. It is a little more digestible when these deplorable people are in a beautiful resort like The White Lotus, and if Banana Republic has anything to do with it, wearing beautifully stylish clothing. The Banana Republic x The White Lotus collaboration puts the cast in stellar resortwear in their new capsule collection with star Patrick Schwarzenegger.

“The Banana Republic White Lotus collaboration brings the show to life with the perfect mix of effortless and vacation style," said Patrick Schwarzenegger. “Banana Republic’s attention to quality and craftsmanship with this collection is impressive.”

Bugatchi elevates their new collection with Made in Italy
Creative Director Anthony Keegan elevates Bugatchi in Italy

The world's biggest and most prominent fashion houses tend to center around four locations: New York, Paris, London, and Milan. It is no coincidence that the primary fashion weeks occur every year in these four cities. It also shouldn't surprise you that the some brands seek out some of the best mills in the world in these regions. The Bugatchi Fall and Winter 2025 collection chose to elevate their garments with Made in Italy, an upgrade that takes their already top-tier garments to the next level.

"Italy offers an unparalleled depth of skill, marrying tradition with innovation in a way that sparks inspiration," Bugatchi Creative Director Anthony Keegan says. "Each piece we craft is not merely an item of clothing; it is a story woven with the threads of quality and expertise. We would sit in the breathtaking expanse of southern Italy, sipping a perfect espresso, continually reminded of the endless possibilities that lie before us. The response to this collection has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I have no doubt this marks the inception of a profoundly passionate relationship with Italian craftsmanship."
