Get Ready for Spring with Madewell’s Sidewalk Sneaker Collection

Is it ever too early to shop for your new favorite spring sneakers? In our estimation, well, no, it’s never too early. That works out quite well given that Madewell just launched its first sneaker collection. The Madewell Sidewalk Sneakers are here, and they’re very, very stylish.

The unisex collection (developed by Madewell’s in-house design team) is everything we could have asked for when it comes to sneakers for early spring (and beyond).

“We’re excited to launch our first line of sneakers,” said Joyce Lee, Madewell’s head of design.  “As a denim brand, creating our own sneaker was a natural next step.”

The collection includes models like the Sidewalk Sneakers in Canvas, a sporty white canvas, gum rubber low-top that looks tailor-made to be worn with a pair of Madewell denim (just the way the brand would want it) and a slub T-shirt or Oxford. For what it’s worth, the  Sidewalk Sneakers in Canvas (particularly the white canvas iteration) are our favorite, since they look as suited for spring travel as they do for a rooftop happy hour.

That same versatility carries over to the eight additional offerings in the collection, including an intriguing pair of Peach Sidewalk Sneakers. Try them with light wash jeans and a casual crewneck on a breezy day – plus the old school-tinged Sidewalk Sneakers in White Leather (able to be worn with a khaki cotton suit or a chambray shirt and grey chinos). That the collection takes inspiration from throwback skate gear is fitting, given how prevalent skate culture is in matters of menswear these days. But, the difference is, these aren’t the skate sneakers you had in middle school. The Madewell Sidewalk Sneakers are really all grown up.

Put it this way: For a brand’s first attempt at sneakers, the details and construction are on-point and the pricing ($68-$88) isn’t half-bad, either. And the fact that they use new MWL Cloudlift insole technology for all-day support is a huge bonus, too.  That means any offering in the collection is designed to keep you on your feet in style all day long, from a breakfast meeting to the office to happy hour, and then back the next day.

From these new sneakers to its well-executed line of denim and soft, perfectly crafted T-shirts and jean jackets, Madewell Men’s is quickly becoming a brand to be reckoned with in its own right. It helps that these sneakers are here in time for spring; the hardest part might be waiting to wear them until it gets warm out.

Salomon and MM6 unite for two new innovative trail-running shoes
Salomon, Mm6 Maison Margiela redesign trail sneakers
pink sneakers on concrete

Once again, Salomon and MM6 Maison Margiela are joining forces to release two new designs, and this drop is unlike their previous work. This time around the two fashion-forward brands are reworking two Salomon designs to make them even more captivating and modern. The two new sneakers speak to a contemporary approach to the trails as they were redesigned with an urban eye. While one of the new designs comes in a bright and vibrant hue, the other is perfect for minimalists who love a sleeker touch. Although both are unconventional in their ways, they make for the perfect statement footwear for your closet, whether or not you hit the trails.
Cross Low and Acs Pro Mm6 Maison Margiela

For their latest collaboration, Salomon and Mm6 Maison Margiela redesigned the “Speedcross” shoe and renamed it “Cross Low.” This distinct silhouette includes a nylon closure that connects to a hi-tech molded composite sole via tapered waterproof seams. The inner slip-on shoe made of 3D mesh allows users to find a more comfortable and snug fit. The Speedcross’ redesigned lug pattern gives wearers a better feel and more stability. This shoe is ideal for all hikers as the waterproof design works from the inside out.

California’s national parks reflected in Vince pre-spring collection
Adopt Future Heritage with the new collection from Vince
Man and woman in Vince holiday attire

The fall is a special time throughout the country as we shed the summer sun and embrace the shorter days. Of course, we can't forget that with the change in seasons, there is a change in how we prepare for the day. Multiple layers of outerwear make an appearance since we have no idea if it will be the kind of day that holds on to the heat of the previous months or the type of day that gives us a cold snap to preview the months to come. In any case, our wardrobe needs a refresher for the fall, and Vince has come out with their fall collection for the year. The Vince pre-spring collection looks to adopt the color palette of the national parks in one of the more beautiful states in the country, California.
Colors of California fall

When you think of the fall, you think of deep browns, vibrant oranges, and soft yellows. The kinds of colors that signal change and a rebirth only a few months away. This collection, however, channels more of the evergreen forests dotting the California landscape and the way it catches the snow and surrounds the blue waters of Big Bear. What you will find are garments in deep blues, browns, greens, and pops of white. They have also taken the concept of classics, the cable knit sweater, and added wavy twists. They have updated old-school garments with modern features and are calling the combination Future Heritage. Making these perfect for today and also not something that needs to be replaced often.

Danner, Madhappy add color and fun to your hiking shoe collection
Danner and Madhappy's new hiking shoe
back side view of pink and brown boots

For Danner's heritage boot brand, creating the ideal quality hiking boot is an everyday task. However, in their latest drop, the Pacific Northwest-based company is joining forces with Madhappy for a redesign that adds a pop of color to your hiking gear. In this collaboration, both brands are taking on the signature Mountain Light boot and giving it a bit of Madhappy’s touch. For Madhappy, working with iconic footwear brands is nothing new, as they’ve recently increased their collaboration with other classic companies like Uggs. Although hiking shoes tend to come in manageable hues to manage the dirt and mud, this collaborative boot is a fun contrast to the often serious color combinations available. A colorful and airy collaboration, the remixed Mountain Light boot is a must for those who want to add something distinct to the trails.
The new Mountain Light boot

Starting with suede uppers in either chestnut or bright pink, this boot comes equipped with a one-leather piece design in the tongue to keep water and dirt out.  This Mountain Light’s stitchdown construction also helps add stability and structure to the underfoot. Inside waterproof Gore-Tex liners help keep the feet warm and comfortable while Vibram Kletterlift outsoles add traction to the boot. Besides announcing the new vibrant hues and modern updates on the boot, Danner has also proudly reiterated that all Mountain Light boots are constructed in Portland, Oregon. The new Madhappy and Danner Mountain Light boot is now available via both Danner and Madhappy web stores and retails at $440. Both colorways are available in men’s and women’s sizing so that all can enjoy the punch of color in their hiking wardrobe.
