A brand new Seiko watch with a striking yellow dial and two cute eyes that look beyond the dial has debuted. Well, this new timepiece, the reference SRPL39, has the primary colors of the brand Seiko is partnering with—Mooneyes.
For starters, Mooneyes is a motorsports company that gained much traction in the ‘50s due to its high-quality automotive parts, which were always fixed in racing cars for performance enhancement. While the organization made a name with top-tier parts, it has a very interesting logo that stands out. It is the work of a popular artist who had ties to Disney—one of the reasons why it has a cartoonish design that captures attention quite easily.
Just above the 6 o’clock denotation, a black moon’s eye logo creates a beautiful contrast between the yellow background and the engraving. The yellow dial also stands out due to the Mooneyes logo imprints. The bezel complements the dial with black and yellow hues.
The hour markers have an interesting white hue that gives the front face a stylish finish. It is worth noting that this new watch is a reimagined version of the Seiko 5 Sports collection that was customized to honor Mooneyes. A few components—such as the hour markers, hour hand, and seconds hand—were upgraded. However, Seiko still preserved the date window and the 60-minute scale—elements that are featured on the Seiko 5 Sports collection.
Since this new model is a limited edition watch, only 1,500 pieces will be rolled out into the market, and each will have a $420 price tag.
