This week we’d like to highlight a Nashville-based leather shoemaker Peter Nappi. The brand makes men’s and women’s shoes with Italian craftsmanship in their creative hangout turned store. Founders Philip and Dana Nappi studied leather and shoemaking in Italy before they created the brand, which has become one of Nashville’s best-kept secrets. Peter Nappi is the epicenter of Nashville’s cool kids (like). The luxury shoe retailer is housed within a former meatpacking warehouse in East Germantown. Now it caters to shoppers as well as local creative types. The space has become a local hangout as well as an event space with its carefully curated vintage design.
Peter Nappi (Philip’s grandfather) is the inspiration the brand. He emigrated from Italy as a shoemaker in 1904. When the two founders discovered this while studying in Italy it solidified their decision to reinvigorate his legacy with the creation of the brand. The latest collection wears a broken-in look very well. We love that it’s not too glossy and has some character right off the shelf.
“The FW14 collection is inspired by the rich, time-worn structure and color palette of Italian architecture, combined with classic American dress/work style,” Philip Nappi said. “Some of the leathers were treated to bring out the luster of the hides, while others were specially treated for a subtly broken in effect.”
We are impressed by their two boot options. The Alfeo is their lace-up cap toe brogue boot that comes in both suede and leather. The other is their Rocco, which is a leather lace-up work boot that comes in suede, leather and a cotton canvas. Both hit just above the ankles. If you’re looking for something a little more dressed up try out the Pietro, their cap-toe wingtip that comes in a leather and suede. They also have a plethora of other finely made kicks.
