Worn Out Wednesday – Max Schwartz

Today we speak to photographer Max Schwartz.

I’m originally from Florida and went to school for marketing, but I was always shooting skateboarding for fun on the side. I wasn’t really finding a great opportunity in the field I set out to tackle, so I applied for a photo job at Jackthreads. I landed it and accidentally fell into the photo art direction world.

I shoot editorial, email campaigns and lookbooks for Jackthreads and am responsible for the visual rebranding of the site, as we launched JT 2.0 in October. I’ve also been taking on a lot of new projects and commercial campaigns in the last year. I produced and shot Alpha Industries’ fall lookbook and am working with them again for spring. ONA Bags, Herschel Supply Co. and Under Armour are some other great brands I’ve worked with in the past. In addition to fashion, I’m getting more into the food, beverage and hospitality world while doing work for Thirstie, Marriott Hotels and experimenting with culinary photography.

In June 2014, I launched the satire site Tinderheadshots.com to portray photography services specifically designed for the digital dating world to help rebrand and re-image clients looking to get noticed. I didn’t think it would take off, but the site generated more than 100k views and was covered by some amazing publications like BBC, Men’s Health and Business Insider. I still get appointments every week, and I enjoy helping these clients build confidence through a great photograph. You can check out all of my other work at themaxschwartz.com.

As for my personal style:

Jeans: Uniqlo Skinny Black Denim. I own three pairs and wear them on rotation.

Shirts: Summer – Black and white tees, Uniqlo – Supima cotton. Best fit.

Any other season – flannel button-downs or Western shirts from Levis.

Suits: Top Man for now. I’m a skinny dude, and they make extra slim suits that are affordable too.

Shoes: All black Nike Janoski Air Max and Vans Sk8Hi for sneakers, Redwing boots for the Motorcycle, they’re the most durable thing I own.

Accessories: All black on black 42-20 Nixon watch , all day every day, Ray Ban Clubmasters and a bottle of seltzer water (that counts as an accessory, right?)

Outerwear: Every single day that’s cold enough, I wear my beatdown leather Original Schott Moto jacket with my Florida Flamingo pin. Or in the snow, my Alpha Industries N3B Parka.

Favorite Cologne: Tom Ford Noir

Your favorite App: Snapchat (for fomo) & Mextures (for photo editing)

Favorite piece of technology: My Fuji mirrorless camera, then my iPhone. I’m addicted to tech.

Next tech purchase: Apple TV so I can waste more of my time not doing work. Or a new camera.

The Hermès Arceau Petite Lune watch paints a clear picture of the universe
This is how the universe would look like on a dial
Hermès Arceau Petite Lune

The new Hermès watch is a fine representation of the cosmos.

The dial of the new Hermès Arceau Petite Lune can send you straight to space, thanks to the high-quality details and finishes. At the 10 o’clock denotation, a moon phase adds to the whole look and complements other elements featured on the dial. It expands into an eclipse, which is accentuated by diamonds to reflect light stylishly.

These shirts are heavier and still stylish
Man in neckerchief and sweater

The winter is in full swing and that means the cold weather is starting to wear on you. It is for us, too. The days are shorter, the nights are colder, and we're just over it. Once the holiday season ends, the next thing to look forward to is the spring. That means we're just counting the days until we can break out our swimsuits again. Until then, we can make good use of the time by picking up some of the winter shirts for men.

We can use them for a little bit of motivation. Some excitement to get us through to Opening Day of the baseball season. That's why we looked at some of our favorite brands and put together some of our favorite sweaters, button-ups, and polos for the cold weather. Here's to a couple more months until the sunshine.
