When you think of coffee cocktails, there’s one drink that stands out immediately: the Espresso Martini. But there are plenty of other ways to incorporate coffee into your cocktails, and recently there has been a TikTok trend for sweet, dessert-like coffee cocktails.

If you fancy trying some of these out for yourself, Patrick Pistolesi, master mixologist at NIO Cocktails, has shared tips on how to recreate some of the most popular viral TikTok-inspired coffee cocktails at home.

Cherry coffee cocktail

“Cherry and coffee make an unexpected and delicious pairing. The balance of bold, deep espresso with a fruity twist creates a unique and enjoyable flavor experience,” Pistolesi says.

“To make this, brew a shot of espresso and let it cool. Then, mix it with a cherry-infused bourbon and a splash of cherry syrup before shaking it over ice. Strain this mixture into a glass and then garnish with a cherry.”

Dubai chocolate coffee cocktail

“This cocktail is a combination of creamy pistachio with rich chocolate for a dessert-like cocktail experience,” Pistolesi says.

“First you’ll want to start with making a chocolate-infused espresso by simply stirring dark chocolate into hot espresso until it’s smooth. Then, shake it with a pistachio and a coffee liquor, pouring it into a glass over ice. Finish with a dust of chocolate powder and even some crushed pistachios to garnish.”

Iced Cuban coffee cocktail

“Iced lattes are such a consistent trend so I wanted to create something bold and sweet,” Pistolesi said.

“To make it, brew a fresh shot of Cuban espresso and let it cool. Then, mix it with a dark rum and a splash of vanilla syrup before pouring it over ice. Add cold milk, or a milk alternative, and finish it off with a sprinkle of cinnamon dust.”

The tequila cocktails for spring trend continues with these recipes from Tres Agaves Tequila, featuring both the brand's blanco and reposado expressions. If you're new to mixing with tequila, you might think that you can use any variation of the spirit in a cocktail, but that's not quite the case -- the light and delicate flavors of a blanco go well with light and fruity flavors, for example, while the aged and oaky flavors of a reposado go better with robust flavors like coffee.
