Jack Daniel’s and the NBA Team Up Again for Epic All-Star Weekend

For the second year in a row, Jack Daniel’s is partnering with the NBA to celebrate the NBA All-Star Game in style. This weekend, February 16-18, in Los Angeles, the two companies have put together a series of events, prizes, and opportunities that are sure to appeal to anyone, even if you don’t who LeBron is and really just like whiskey (or vice versa).

Throughout the weekend, Jack Daniel’s will have the Lynchburg General Store (located at 903 W. Olympic Blvd. in LA) open for visitors to get a taste of Tennessee and enjoy everything else about the All-Star Weekend. While at the General Store, you’ll be able to shop specially curated local products, participate at the Charcoal Mellowing Bar, and learn about the Lincoln County Process (the charcoal-mellowing trick that makes Tennessee whiskey stand out), virtually explore Lynchburg through the Lynchburg Travel Agency, indulge in Southern hospitality at Miss Bobo’s Bakery, and enjoy music from the house folk band.

Another part of this weekend’s festivities is the chance to win a pair of custom Nike Air Force 1 sneakers, inspired by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey whiskey and crafted by the legendary Shoe Surgeon. Featuring a single stitching technique (which is used to create craft Italian shoes), these sneakers were designed to reflect the various elements related to Jack Daniel’s. These include Vachetta tan leather accents, gold metal eyelets, leather lace with gold metal aglet to represent Tennessee Honey, black Horween leather made with the same care and attention that Jack Daniel’s uses in their whiskey-making process, and dark brown distressed leather with russet undertones that will age with wear, emblematic Jack’s barrel aging process.

To win these kicks, you need to 1) be in LA this weekend and 2) stop by the Lynchburg General Store pop-up between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wristbands will be handed out starting at 10 a.m.; drawings commencing at 11 a.m. You need to be at least 21 years old to participate.

Jack Daniel’s and the NBA are also teaming up with basketball stars Muggsy Bogues and Robert Horry to announce the NBA Legends Camp, which will take place this summer.

You can enter now through April 30. All you need to do is create your personal NBA Legends dream team and share it on the site. Two winners will be chosen to attend the camp in Lynchburg, Tennessee (along with four friends each). Once there, the groups will not only get to learn from the legends themselves, but they’ll also learn all about Jack Daniel’s and how it’s made (while hanging out with Muggsy freaking Bogues and Robert freaking Horry).

Can’t make it out to LA for the festivities? Then you should mix up this Jack Daniel’s cocktail (created by Jack Daniel’s LA ambassador Eric “ET” Tecosky) while you watch the best of the best from the comfort of your own home.

The All Star

  • 1 oz Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
  • .5 oz Jack Daniel’s Honey
  • .5 oz Cointreau
  • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 oz Simple Syrup

Method: Shake all with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass with a hot sugar rim. To make the hot sugar rim: Mix 5 parts sugar, 1 part cayenne. (If fresh lemon juice is not available, sub the lemon and sugar for a high quality sour mix).

Get ready for the weekend with this twist on an Irish Coffee
Take the classic recipe up a notch with flavored whiskey
Coffee with whipped cream

It's nearly time for National Irish Coffee day, falling this weekend, so why not treat yourself to this beloved warm cocktail? Traditionally it's made with Irish whiskey, coffee, and whipped cream, though there's plenty of room for making this classic recipe your own as well if you fancy something a little different.

One great suggestion for a modern twist on this classic cocktail comes from Bridget Albert, Senior Director of External Communications & Host of the Served Up Podcast at Southern Glazer's. Her Café Dublin recipe keeps the Irish whiskey, freshly brewed coffee, and whipped cream, but also includes a couple of creative additions to amp up the flavor. There's the use of a sugar cube soaked with Peychaud’s Bitters to give a spicy, cinnamon note to the drink as well as sweetness, and my favorite addition: an ounce of ginger flavored whiskey. Ginger is such a great bold flavor, that adds some heat and richness that matches great with the bitterness of the coffee and the warming spicy flavors of the whiskey.

Two decades in the craft circuit
Cheers beer bottles with sun in the background

One of Hawaii's most iconic breweries is almost old enough to drink. Maui Brewing Co., the state's largest brewery, celebrates the two decade mark this February. The nation's 26th largest craft beer producer will celebrate with a host of anniversary events.

The Kihei location will have an anniversary party on Feb 6 to commemorate twenty years in business. It doesn't seem too long ago that the label was just emerging, first launched back in 2005. The company continues to make all of its beer in Hawaii, shipping out beyond the archipelago via distribution channels.

In craft beer, the IPA is still king
We can't give up the hops
Glass of beer

Budweiser may claim to be the king of beers, but in the craft circuit, IPA occupies the throne. The Lebron James of beer styles, the India Pale Ale has both physical power and staying power. Craft enthusiasts have long enjoyed IPAs thanks to their many sub-styles, creative use of unique hop combinations, and interesting aromatics and flavors.

According to the latest news, not much has changed. As Brewbound reports, the style rose nearly 2% in sales in 2024 and sold something to the tune of $2.28 billion that year, all told. That's an impressive feat, especially for a craft beer movement that's presently looking itself in the mirror. With so many other options out there, not to mention a rise in popularity and low-to-no ABV drinks, it hasn't been an easy stretch for beer makers.
