Jim Beam Encourages Bonding Over Bourbon with the Ultimate Trip to Kentucky for $23

It’s not often a trip to Bourbon Country can be had for $23, but Jim Beam is making it happen. If you’re looking for an ultimate Father’s Day gift bargain, this might be the ticket.

You do remember Sunday is Father’s Day right?

Jim Beam

The massive bourbon maker is making trips available to Kentucky for a mere $23 as result of a recent blind taste test, held by the Beverage Tasting Institute. The distillery claims 54% of participants preferred the $23 Jim Beam Black against a $3,000 bottle of a “recognizable brand with a high demand and limited production.” With the results in mind, Jim Beam decided on offering a $3,000 trip for the price of a bottle of Jim Beam Black — built on a similar experience last year which sold out in minutes called “Bonding Over Bourbon Experience.” This year even beats last year’s $25 price tag.

A limited number of the $23 packages will be released on June 12 on the Jim Beam e-store. Last year, the packages sold out in mere minutes.

The trip includes round-trip airfare for two to Kentucky, a two-night hotel stay in Louisville, a Jim Beam behind-the-scenes tour, dinner for two at a “renowned” Kentucky restaurant, a round of golf, and a limited-edition Jim Beam Black gift box complete with a decanter, rocks glasses, and luggage tag.

Jim Beam

Jim Beam is the No. 1-selling bourbon, produced by sticking to Jacob Beam’s recipe from the 1790s.

Jim Beam has expanded its line greatly since its founding, including Jim Beam Black, which spends a few more years in barrels than the original’s four. Now the lineup includes Jim Beam Bonded, Single Barrel, Double Oak, Rye, and Devil’s Cut. There’s also a wide range of flavored bourbons, including Maple, Peach, Apple, Vanilla, Honey, Red Stag, and Fire. The brand also launches occasional special releases, like this winter’s Repeal Batch.

If you’re able to snag one of these trips, rest assured you’ll pick up the top spot on your dad’s latest ranking of favorite people. Sure there are other fine gifts for dad, but none of this magnitude come at a price this good and add your ability to join in on the fun! Plus, for whiskey lovers, few places are as magical as Kentucky and the great distillery campuses that dot the Bluegrass State, including Jim Beam’s.

Do coffee beans go bad? Here’s the truth about freshness and shelf life
Exploring the shelf life of coffee beans
Coffee beans

If you're a javaphile, you probably go through coffee beans reasonably fast. I drink at least two to three cups per day, so as you can expect, I quickly run through coffee beans in my house. However, since I travel frequently, I've often wondered if my coffee beans would still be suitable for brewing once I return home from vacation.

The phrase "freshly brewed coffee" suggests the beans are fresh, but what exactly makes a fresh bean? As you probably can speculate, coffee beans don't stay fresh forever. If you've also wondered, "Do coffee beans go bad?" this guide is for you.

Sip on this refreshing cucumber, amaro and tequila cocktail
Try this unusual combination of ingredients in The Last Lover cocktail
cucumber slices on a white background

I always enjoy an unusual drink, and this cocktail brings together bitter amaro, fruity tequila, and the cool and refreshing notes of cucumber. Cucumber is an underrated cocktail ingredient, in my opinion -- you see it occasionally in a gin & tonic but not often elsewhere. Though its flavor is subtle, it has a crisp note to it which adds a lovely vegetal note to give some savory depth to a cocktail, and it's a natural fit for drinks using more vegetal gins or savory ingredients like tomato juice.

But I'm interested in the combination of cucumber with amaro, which has more bitter and herbal notes, and with tequila, which leans more fruit and agave-forward. It can add a layer of interest to more classic combinations like tequila and lime.
