TikTok is obsessed with this top-rated ice maker - and now it's finally on sale for Prime Big Deal Days

Whether it’s for making your own smoothies, frappés, or cocktails at home, having a fresh supply of chewable ice always on hand is a little luxury that makes iced beverages so much better. And, now, that luxury is more affordable, thanks to the Prime Big Deal Days deal on the GE Profile Opal 2.0 XL countertop nugget ice maker. Forget about ever having to go to the store for bagged ice ever again. During the October 8th and 9th sale, this top-rated ice maker is 17% off, which means you can score it for way less than its usual $600+ price tag.

Viral on TikTok, this ice maker is known for its fluffy, chewable ice, also known as nugget ice, that many people find superior to traditional hard cubes, especially when used in drinks. Plus, the Opal makes up to 38 pounds of ice per day, a capacity that’s large enough to use for a house party or gathering. The countertop setup with an ice drawer makes it easy for both kids and adults to grab the ice anytime they need it. It even comes with a scoop! In addition, the built-in LED display adds a modern touch to your kitchen while enabling simple control of the machine’s functions. The machine, which is now under $500, is also fully compatible with Alexa and Google voice control (if that’s your thing).

Another major plus of the Opal? You don’t need to hire a Task Rabbit to set it up. Forget about hooking it up to an external water source, a requirement that many other ice makers demand. This ice maker comes equipped with its own 1-gallon water tank that you can remove to fill up in your kitchen sink. When the ice maker’s water is running low, the built-in wifi capabilities and SmartHQ app will alert you to its status. The app also lets you monitor the device’s health and schedule ice-making.

Although iced beverage season is winding down, you won’t want to miss an incredible deal on this machine during the Prime Big Deal Days 2024 sale.

Cantaritos: Harvest and history in a glass
Cantaritos 101
Melinda Archuleta of Bar Carlo

Drinks culture is built around communal traditions that celebrate both ingredients and people. The stories are fascinating, whether the theme is the history of Pilsner or Georgian amphora wine. The cantarito is no exception, a drink with Mexican roots that goes way, way back.

Melinda Archuleta is the chef and founder at Bar Carlo in Portland, Oregon. She didn't realize that cantarito was a known cocktail before a trip to L.A. to visit her sister. There, at El Compadre, she experienced it firsthand. "I’m a tequila-soda-grapefruit drinker, so their cantarito was my obvious choice, and it brought back a lot of memories around other simple cocktails I’d had over the years in Mexico and San Diego, many of them built around whatever was at hand or at the corner store, and always lengthened with soda to encourage lingering a bit longer," she said.
